Dents?

OK new here. Dent's? What's a dent other than a bashed in fender? I see a few threads about Dent's and can only assume they are a name for 73/79 trucks?

The indent that runs along the upper portion of the body.

Yep. The 73-79 have an indent down the side of the body. The 67-72 trucks have a bump down the side, hence the nickname Bumpside.

Some of the Corvair pickups had ramps on the side, and were often referred to as Rampsides.

Got it. makes sense. Thanks

To be quite honest, I had never heard the reference either until I joined this site. Everytime I wanted to reference the body style as a whole, I just said 73-79, but 'dentside' sounds slicker, IMO.

I wish they would change it to INDENTS because that's what it really is.

Funny I was the other way around, I didn't know the year ranges but
described them by the "dent" "bump" "ridge in" "ridge out" etc from way
back when I first got mine. Man I didn't want a dent side, but for some
dangged reason, Ford didn't see a need to make me a bump side in '75. :/

;)

Bumps are the coolest looking pickup body style ever, IMO. YMMV

I've never known my rig to be known as anything but a dent as I researched the years and looked for the one I wanted to buy. It is a sexy name.
