Ugh... Tore apart my parents lemon of a 3.4L in their 99' Alero...

This is what happens when you put off a coolant leak for a couple of years. 1/4" of sludge everywhere.

Heads are off now, and are being rebuilt and surfaced at the machine shop.

Never had a V6 apart...the cant on those valves surprises me...what's the combustion chamber shaped like?

During that era, GM had a common issue with the upper plenum (plastic intake portion) cracking and leaking coolant into the engine. They are under $100 at the dealership.

Make sure to have yours checked!

Yea, this motor has some pretty interesting geometry...

The upper plenum on the 3.4 is aluminium... No plastic here.
