Considering an '05 XLT?

I'm sorry we hi-jacked your thread.... Have you bought the truck yet?

No big deal at all! I'm learning just by reading it all. We did buy it yesterday afternoon. I'm excited, although I can't help but wonder how my wife signed off on getting rid of her Honda Pilot, letting me keep my 84 Jeep, buying this pickup, AND (since it doesn't fit in the garage) allowing me my workshop...

Of course, she DID point it all out to me yesterday as we were standing around admiring the new truck...

Not sure how to add a pic, otherwise I would.

If you upload your pics here to the gallery, you get it without a bunch of other stuff on the page...same idea, you copy the "BB" code.

It worked. Amazing. Thanks for all the help! Now to what matters - Please pass any and all advice to a novice diesel owner!
I'd like to be able to tow a camper, and have heard different terms: goose neck, bumper pull, etc. Currently there is no hitch other than the (I assume factory) below-the-bumper mounted one.
Also, according to the PO, this truck was tuned with a Diablo Predator for +65 HP; has an aftermarket exhaust with no cat; and EGR delete. Oh, and also the tires that are too wide and rub on the fenders when turning. I've only noticed it on one side so far.
I'm not trying to race this thing, but I would like to try and squeeze out horses and torque without doing any damage. What are yall's opinions?

Happy Easter, too!

Well as cool as the tires are, you're losing a lot of power and efficiency by making the drivetrain rotate all that rubber!

That is a handsome truck. The front ends on those are among my favorite style for Super Duty's.

Yeah, I think they are a little gaudy myself. But until they wear out, I really don't want to spend the cash on new ones. Besides, I still haven't registered it and I'm afraid to think about the taxes...

When I do get around to it, I'm hoping I can just go thinner without new wheels, too. I'll cross that bridge when I get there, I guess.

Also, I'm scheduled for a 165k service next week - anyone know how much I can expect to be shelling out??

Where is it being done and what do you plan having done?

The local dealership here in town. I figure it should make it to the dealership at least once in it's life.

As for what they're doing, the following is what is scheduled:

Perform multi-point inspection

Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage,ball joints,suspension joints,half and drive-shafts and u-joints

Inspect engine cooling system level, coolant strength (anti-freeze & anti-corrosion) and hoses

Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system

Check engine air filter restriction gauge, replace filter as required

Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with underhood dipstick)

Replace fuel filters, engine and frame-mounted

Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields

Change engine oil and replace oil filter

Inspect and lubricate 4X4 front axle shaft u-joints

Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise

Services
EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT, ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULES RECALIBRATION

Another question I have: will this recall fix have anything to do with the EGR delete?

Thanks again!

Well, after an oil change, a differential service, fuel and air filters, and general checkup, she's been given a clean bill of health.
Has anyone installed the sinister coolant filter? It was recommened to me by blacksnapon, and I'm curious about it.

Thanks yall!
