Didn't Chrysler have some dealings in the past from Renault......when they bought AMC(?) Jeep (for sure) from Renault?

AMC was AMC/Jeep/Eagle brands when Renault bought it in 85, and Chrysler picked it up in 87.

Whatever Happened To Eagle?

At the time of the Chrysler buyout, AMC had product in the pipeline that Renault had a financial interest in seeing hit the market. Chrysler didn't want it — Jeep was their trophy — but Renault forced them to take the Franco-American models as part of the deal, so Chrysler spun them off into their own brand: Thus was born Eagle.

Yeah, I already knew about most of that, but still a very interesting look on how merges and takeovers work in the auto industry. :)

And the Eagle name came from the AMC Eagle, one of my favorite cars/4wheel-drives ever...

Don't forget Chrysler and Renault have a current tie-up, with Dodge building the new Nissan titan in Mexico (Renault also owns controlling interest in Nissan).
