Can early Bronco steering box be used on a 75 F100 4x4

Just got my son a 75 F100 4x4. It has a hi pinion with drums( wasnt sure they had hi pin till 78). It has muscle steering and I want him to be safe as this is his first ride and strong arming it and shifting the np435 is not good in my eye with a novice at the wheel. I have a line on an early bronco gear box. It is an outside the frame mounted unit like the manual box originally in the truck. Forget it the frame is taller so not sure if it will work. Any thoughts and what about availability of a stock unit for the 75? Will the 78-79 work as well. The parts house only do rebuilds on your unit. I don't have one to rebuild!!!!!! How common was the Hi pin in this year. OK the EB unit will not work it is 2" too short to clear the frame. So any sources for the boxes and other parts other than the likes of LMC?
