bought me a super duty

well, finally got the truck last week. Drives awesome, all good considering its mileage 320k kilometres (200k miles for you mercan friends). Power windows are a little slow and one way of the power mirrors dont work, fan and air con dont work, but hopefully simple things (quickly checked fuses but not them). Anyways, forgot to take before pictures, but since it has a lengthened chassis and a tub wont fit, i decided to fit a flat tray. Bought one off a mate that would fit, had to remove heaps of extra crap that had welded on and fit:

The cab guard will be modified as it is ghey right now and i hate it so will be more like this on my old truck:

Just to match the line of the cab and look better in general.

Looks great Andy - is that a cascade i see there on the tray?

got the 6637 air filter on yesterday and a straight pipe off one of the usa trucks we parted out. sounds obnoxious, its just straight pipe dumps before the diff. way to loud and really droney under the tray, temporary til the gearbox comes out for 4x4 swap and the 4" downpipe goes on.
noticable power wise, put a cheap superchips(1855, definatly more smoke than the 1705 we used to use) on a few weeks ago til i do some other mods, and goes good really.
next up is the frx and hutch mod, have the parts just need to get it done.

Looking very sharp Andy, great metalworking :)
Cab light lenses are a personal call, there are so many styles and sizes. You can get factory lenses for your year or get after market ones that either look close to factory or a style completely different. There are usually 5 cab lights but I have seen trucks with 6 or 8 but I feel that is over the top. The most common spacing for the lights is 12" on center starting from the center of the roof for the five lights, or keeping the outer lights at 24" from center of roof and having the 3 middle lights spaced at 6" or 8" from center. (Mine are at 12") So, a few options Andy, but once you find the cab lights you like, just place them across the roof of your truck and try the layouts, seeing it visually really helps to make your final choice. I was stuck at first when I did mine, but that really helped.

cheers,

oh, forgot to mention, try and get the factory harness, makes for easy wiring : )

I would agree with Roy, it's a matter of what you are looking for. Personally, I'm a fan of the older style big rig lights, sometimes called "Watermelon Style".
Looking forward to how they come out Andy! Keep us posted!

Thanks mate,

I think I going to buy factory style can lights, not sold on those at all

This is the way I like to go. I personally can`t stand big a** chrome cab lights on a truck when there is a nicer looking factory unit available. You can also get smoked and clear lenses for Super Dutys in the factory style.

I honestly like the GM cab lights on this style truck (the large 3-light center with the two independent outters).

getting ready for my 4x4 swap, pulled the gearbox and transfer off my spare engine. lucky i had my forklift, but even it complains at the weight of a powerstroke;
