6.0 hotstart issues

Looking at various sites, there are numerous complaints about no starts when hot involving the 6.0. These engines are easy to diagnose for this problem. Codes are useful, but they should not be thought of as the definate answer you are looking for. If you get a dtc for high pressure oil system failures, don't start throwing parts at it. More in-depth diagnosis is needed. Special tools are used to do this. There are fittings you use to air charge the system, after you use another tool to electronicly close the IPR. People wanting to do this in their home garage, front yard, or a poorly equipped independent garage, are in for a rough time. Replacing ICP, IPR, HPOP, HPOP fitting wont help if you have a cracked branch tube, or defective oil rail.

To close off the IPR just put power and ground to it and then pull out the ICP and put air to the system. Find the leak either under the valve covers or under the H.P cover. If you have no leaks check the IPR. If the screen is full of metal replace the IPR and the high pressure oil pump. If the srceen is good change the H.P pump.
