4.6 liter ticking type noise?

Hey guys, on my wifes 2005 4.6 liter it started making a terrible ticking type noise, only from the drivers side though. There is no rhyme or reason to it, sometimes it will do it on cold start and sometimes only after it warms up. I have stuck my head everywhere I dare to try to locate this noise and I cant find it. Any idea on what to check? The truck has 106000 miles on it and doesnt run any different, its just annoying. Thanks.

Is it indicative of the engine RPMs? Could be a coil, injector, cam phazer. May be a plug getting ready to eject.. If you can't figure it out, get it looked at real soon.

I goes away as the RPMs increase, either that or you cant hear it over the rest of the engine noise. RPMs dont seem to have an effect on it though.

usually its poor oil supply to a chain tensioner. Wear, or debris in the oil passages to the tensioner is most often the cause.
