1990 f250 throttle body

Have a 90 f250 with the efi 460 under the hood. My problem is i was goin to put a throttle body spacer but the throttle body has a flange underneth that hits a sensor under it. So the only plan i could come up witn is gettin a grinder and takin off that flange, does anybody know if there would be any veins or some sort of purpose for that flange. Or is there a way to modifie the sensor. Any advice is appreciated.
