Gotta Be Somebody
Well, i seen this part of the forum wasn't as lively as others, so i figure sure, why not, i'll post this here.
So far, i have the 1957 F-250
I'm putting a 390 FE in with a 3spd Tranny for now. I have a engine crossmember on the way as well as a Streetmaster Intake. I'm in search of some more FE parts, but the budget is pretty low til this summer. Well, i'll keep you updated, and prolly post up some pictures of the engine swap.

I assume you are using the Ford all syncro 3 speed trans, right?

Ifin you need part numbers, just pose what you need.

Its the tranny that was bolted up to teh 390, 68 model, so i assume its a all synchro tranny. How is the clutch fork retained in there? I'm not much of a tranny guy, i'm more of the engine and other areas kinda person.
Pose....taht's gonna stick around for a while .... oh well :p

That's the 3 speed syncro.

The fork fits through a hole in the bell housing and works off the clutch trunnion that's riveted to the BH. There is an anti rattle spring on the fork.

I can scan the setup later tonight and email the diagram.

The diagram would be very helpful.
I noticed the clutch fork can be moved around and what not, so is that normal or does the spring need to be replaced? confused Do you also have a diagram of how the linkage is "supposed" to be hooked up?
I'm not much into the tranny / clutch field as far as knowing a lot about them, i haven't studied them as much as i have say engines, and that general area.
Thanks for the help

email sent...I'll have the wife do the scanning, that way, you will be able to read it...

You can move the fork around a little bit.

I'll get some pics. I am currently waiting on Engine Mounts.....stupid crossmember said Ford OEM Mounts....didn't say there was only one kind that would work which are ones off a 361. So right now the 390 is sitting on 2x4's and i'm gonna get the mounts tonight. It was a royal pain getting that engine in, and i looked at my friend, i was like no, its not coming out, its gonna stay. I also have to go to a single groove crank shaft pulley. At least its sittin level now....hopefully get it sitting on the crossmember...the stock tranny crossmember is holding the back up. Got the electronic ignition conversion put in, and now just waiting to get the engine on in....and the pushrods.

I'll try to get some pics. I had to replace the Head Unit in the GA GT again, i switched from pioneer to dual. See how that goes.

I'll keep ya'll updated.
