Not much luck finding a dana 60 front axle. I am not going to put huge tires on it. And it won't be a daily driver. I just want a fun fwd pickup. I drive a different brand as my daily driver, any wheres from 2 wheel drive to 8 wheel drive when I lock in the axles. There has been a few delays...
I did a little googleing and came up with this. I have axle code 29, (Thanks Miranda, I never knew about axle codes) My truck has a 5 speed with a inline 6. Do any of you think I will have a issue finding solid axle with that gear ratio?29 3.55 5300 FORD REG...
I have another plate for the inside of the frame. So yea. I also have to do the top flange of the frame. To tired to deal with it today., That will hold till next weekend.
So my 20 year old step son says he has a problem with some thing being broke under his truck. I heard the tail pipe rattle a few times so.. Wrong. He shows me a crack in the frame right over the axle. How long ago did that happen? I ask. Ohhh a few months ago. Sigh...Spent 4 hours doing a...
This is a most appropriate post to me. I was wondering how to find out what my rear axle was to match a new solid front axle. Thanks Miranda and Smokey
Feel like I.m talking to myself here.I am now in the market for a solid front axle, I guess off of a F 350 in the range of years that would fit my truck. Solves a whole group of issues.
Well this sucks! I just figured out the the engine bay / cradle is different. Not the motor mount part, but where the front axle attaches. There is a boss where the DS side bolts on and it's not on the new frame. Any ideas?
I don't know what happened, but I have progress on the picture issue. Yeaaa!Sorry but not into a grinder if I don't have to. Old saying... If you have to grind your welds, your a grinder , not a welder. I hate grinding.Frame is pretty well dispelled of all extraneous bull*(& parts and...

Ok, we are back in business. Here is my replacement frame. It was a 1990 F150 FWD. There are a few minor differences, as I was told there would be. Junk yard left a whole lot of extra "stuff" on the frame. Have some work to do on this thing. I have all ready done quite a bit. More pictures to...
Thanks Aaron, Yea, I have done a lot of prep work to the new / used frame. Eliminated a bunch of extra stuff and made a couple of frame liners. I did have to cut the front of the old frame off and add it to the new due to the suspension difference. I am using a epoxy style primer that I got...

yea, only place I am having problems with is here. Post pics every where else, no problem. Used a torch today to clean up the frame a bit. pretty much ready to blast and prime.
You are 100 percent correct on everything you are saying. I bought a frame a few months ago from a local junk yard. but had a hell of a time getting it home. We were short A drivers and I just ran constantly.I finally had a Saturday and we had a flat bed available for me to use.I want to...
I stuck my phone under the donor truck and got this shot. After looking at both frame pics, I am beginning to wonder. Just hoping it's the same frame, even if I have to drill holes. To swap this out I plan on bringing my heavy home to do the lifting. I think if I plan and prepare this right, I...
Greetings members. My job hasn't allowed me much time to play with this project, but some progress has been made. I did some serious thinking as to how to repair this and came to the conclusion that the frame is done.Last Saturday I went to a local junkyard to see what was available. They...
Been kinda busy on the job the last few weeks. No time to enjoy some quality garage time, ya know.CAP the lines !!! Yup. I clamped them as they have the "I don't know" slip lock type connectors. Still runs.I beat about 20 lbs of rust off. It is in pretty bad shape. Jacked up the truck...
