I found an easy and inexpensive way to boost my mileage this morning. Make sure the transfer case is in 2 wheel drive. My mileage should improve now. LOL What a Stooge!:hammer:
Not sure. I was talking to a mechanic and he said if the headed tube is cool that cylinder isn't firing. I need to pull a plug and check the compression. Maybe the pliug is just fouled.
Well, today I found out why I'm only getting 7 mpg. I have a dead cylinder. I know my hearing isn't as good as it was 10 years ago, but I thought I could hear that. Not sure what to do next. You man says NEW MOTOR. another man says "sell it to the rock crawlers". I hate to see the truck...
OK. From what I see I just ask to join and a moderator says yes or no? I live in Magalia Ca. Just go east from Chico, through Paradise and your here. 'hippie'
This brings back memories of my Grandpa's wise words. If you can't do it right just don't do it at all. I think I'll wait and change front and back at the same time. What gears should I use to get the best fuel mileage and still keep my off road abilities?
Thats what I thought. As long as I don't shift the transfer to 4x4 I'm ok. But if I do one end tries to go faster than the other and I break stuff.'balls'
I know I'm going to get the stupid question of the day award with this, but......
In a 4x4 do you have to run the same gears in the rear as the front? Can you put 3:90 in the rear and have 4:10 in the front? I have a shot at some 3:90s and a locker diff for a good price.
Buck, I think a single chrome Hickey would look good in that blue 4x4 highboy. If the price is right jump on it. If it doesn't look right but it on craigslist. You might make a dollar or two.
I'm with you guys. I won't buy a vehicle I can't work on. The last "new" Vehicle I bought was a 99 ram 1500. I really liked the truck but all I could do with it was change oil and plugs. I had to put 3 trans in under 200,000 miles at about $2500 each. My favorite vehicle was a 72 K10 blazer...
She has a new Air filter, fresh oil and filter, spark plugs, rotor, points, and cap. I can't think of anything else to change for under $20 and an hours work.
The system seems to work great. The only problem I have with mine is the cylinder leaks pretty bad. Is there a rebuild kit for the cylinder? I have read about many Box swaps. I really don't think I should attempt that. I'm pretty good with a wrench on older cars, but Welding and cutting? No Thanks.
You ain't kidding. At 55mph she's turning just under 3,000 rpm. I rarely go over 50. I have a 18 mile drive to work with about 6 red lights. But I bet she will climb a cliff and pull a trailer along the way.
He sleeps in my yard every night. Usually has a doe and two fawns with him or near by.If the truck was made in Oct or Nov of 72, would the title say 73? The VIN indicates 72...
Sounds like your losing "prime". Your fuel pump may be getting weak and letting the fuel run back to the tank. Before your first start, take the air filter off, open the throttle by hand and look, listen for a squirt of gass in the carb. If no squirt I would change the fuel pump.
I have a f250 highboy. The data plate on the drivers door says it was built in Sept 72 at the San Jose plant. The VIN says the truck is a 72, but it has a 73 body. The truck has been painted so I can't tell if the paint code matches. The interior code does match the red and black interior. All...
