Sorry I've been so quiet lately. Long story short, I am married now and in the process of moving to the wife's farm outside Okawville, IL. Doing some remodeling there, will do some work on my house before trying to sell it, and getting a huge three car garage at the farm. Oh yeah, Kathy is a...
After 10 years of occasional work and expense (and many years of dreaming before that), the Big Tank has reached a stage of relative completion. Typically, projects like this are never truly finished, but hopefully what remains will be detail work.
Yes, it's been about 10 months on bodywork and paint. There is a coolant leak behind the heater that needs attention and I just received a new glovebox to install.
The wheels are staying. I like the look and the truck drives just fine as long as the road isn't too rutted. I have a plating kit so I'm going to bling out the lug nuts...The snake was pretty docile, just really heavy. She kept wanting to get onto the ground! If one of those fell out of a...
Got my Tank back last Friday, just in time for family day at work the next day! After that, a quick trip to Hartford, IL to meet a friend and his family, then back home. Just over 60 miles altogether. I'll get some more pictures available ASAP. Oh, I also made a new friend at family day...
Still don't have my baby yet. I discovered that the fender extensions were somehow lost so we are awaiting replacements from LMC Truck, which will need priming and painting. Also the replacement Pertronix kit was bad so that's on reorder... 'smiliedoh'The fender extensions are these little...
I'm sticking with the good old evil split-rims for the time being. I had them repainted and new tires put on a few years ago and am happy with them.Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh..... right, about that........... :suspicious:
Sorry, was out of town last week. The body work is finished and everything put back together. They are finishing up work on the carb and ignition. Hopefully this week!
I received an email saying the last payment is due June 26, at which point I believe it will be ready for pickup (har har). One last payment and then this house, er truck, is payed off!
I've got a 1950 F3 with the 239 flathead. It's mostly original. The body is in the final stages of painting right now. There are details and more pictures than are probably necessary at my website.
Thanks for joining and I will remind you that you have a very nice truck! 6v positive and a modern aftermarket radio -- love it! Mine is aaallllllllmmmmooooosssst looking that nice... :)
More pictures to ogle! It seems they are changing their website around. Also at the bottom are some "before" and "during" pictures to give an idea just how much work was done to the body. And no, the Cadillac is not mine... :)
I've seen advertised batteries that function as 12V for starting but 6V once the engine is running. Way back when I was a teenager and driving my truck on a regular basis, I'd have to get a jump start occasionally and everything survived. I would think the biggest cause for concern would be...
Yeah, it's made to go over a rusty surface, neutralizing the rust. There are several similar products that do the same thing, POR-15 maybe being the best known. You want to clean all of the dirt and grease off, and as mtflat said get as much loose rust as you can. If you have a new or...
POR-15 after a good steam cleaning of the frame. I've heard good things and bad things about it but I figure they have more experince with it than I do.
As soon as your check clears, Ryan... 'toetap'
There are some new pictures up now. I stopped in last Monday afternoon and the frame wasn't painted or the floor replaced. I was suprised how much they got done in a few days. Maybe they thought I had forgotten... :)
