The only pic I have is in post# 25 of this thread. Not the greatest pic. I only cut the center out and kept my pedals, etc.
I had to brace the old x member to the new one to keep it from flexing. I wish I had done it differently, cutting the center out of the old one really weakened everything...
I was going to mention the 254, but it sounds like you already know about them. I have several 226's but never really paid much attention to any differences.
Welcome to FTF!
how long since the truck was last started? If it's been awhile, you could have a stuck valve that is not letting the engine turn over. try turning it a full 360 degrees with a socket on the bolt in the center of the crank pulley
Wow, it's been a busy summer so far! My blue truck has been parked since June, when I found many "sparkles" in the oil. I drove it once since and the RH water pump started pouring out coolant....so now it's parked again till I have time. Bummer.
Engine will come out to check bearings and get new...
Been working on some driveability issues on the flatty...it's missing at higher rpms. Also has a vibration, possibly from the misfiring.
Still has the faint knock as well, I.m thinking about pulling the engine to check more "in depth".
Sucks to do this during cruisin season.......but I don't...
Your truck should easily go 55-60 mph with the 3.92 gears, unless your tires are really short. Just push down on the gas pedal, LOL.
Seriously, it may sound like it is over-revving, but it really shouldn't hurt it.with a 29" tire at 60 mph your rpm would be 2725
with a 27"...
The 9" rear end swap is a popular way to go, but not the only one. I swapped in a 9" with 3.00 gears, because I had it laying around. It improved highway speeds but the wide 3 speed trans ratios made it harder to drive with the taller gears. In other words, with only 100 hp, it was a dog.
Since...
Makes perfect sense. I've had that happen in the past, usually involved some bad words......
Thankfully I don't work on the bigger trucks anymore. Thanks for the offer...
I love a stick shift.....almost everything I own is manual. Sometimes they try my patience tho.SUCCESS!!!!! Got the trans back in the truck and the clutch works smooth as glass. Exactly how it should be.....
Anyhow I'm a happy camper now!On to the next "problem".....heck, I may even work on...
