19.5" five lug wheels for big trucks

I have a set of 7 19.5" tubeless wheels for the larger 1.5 ton trucks and larger of the '40s and '50s. These are the type that came on mid '70s RVs. The rims are in very good condition, just need to be cleaned up and painted. 2 tires are in good useable condition, the other 5 have cracks on...

    Ford script flatbed drawings

For anyone wanting to build a flatbed for their truck I am working on doing a complete dimensional drawing of a Ford script flatbed. I have a complete original bed for my F-4. Some how over the last 50+ years it has remained in very decent, complete shape including all of the original...

    Careful where you run wires

I wire industrial machinery for a living, I run my own company. I've been doing it for about 20 years, I'm always amazed at how some "professionals" route wire. I've worked on machines where wires go through small holes in metal without a rubber bushing or grommet, and no extra slack. I...

Shift pattern '49 Ford F3 4 speed manual

You can find replacement wheels but they won't accept the stock hub caps. Ford used the same bolt patterns until the late mid '90s. You have to make sure the wheels you use will fit over the rear drums, which are larger on the rear than on the front on the pre-'52 F-3s.If you're building...

Shift pattern '49 Ford F3 4 speed manual

Don't worry about not remembering to start in second, you'll only need to do it once.Double clutching is a dieing art but it's not that hard to master. Once you get the rythm of driving the old beast you might be able to shift without using the clutch, I can do it if I'm in the right mood. I...

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

I just checked the Dennis Carpenter, Bob Drake and LMC web sites, none of them carry them. They show up on eBay quite often. That may be your best bet.

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

Man, if you posted that reply on the other Ford truck site they would chew you up and spit you out. For some reason that subject use to ignite a firestorm of negative reaction, now the question gets pretty much ignored, I thing because it's been beat to death over there. I've never tried to...

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

The '89 axle will be too wide for the fenders on your '50. You need axles, both front and rear from a pre '73 Ford truck. There is a small difference in width between the '48-52 truck and the pre '73. I think the difference between the '89 and the older axle is about 5-6 inches.

bobj49f2's mirror trick (lots of pics)

I'm glad the article could help.I have a set on my panel truck. They work great, I also stuck a 2-3" convex mirror on the inside bottom corner of the passenger side mirror, it really helps to see what is on the side of the truck. If you what experience blind spots drive a panel truck. I...

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

I wonder how they put the criss cross pattern on at the factory. I wonder if they painted it and then ran some kind of roller over it of stamped it with a die of some sort. I doubt it was a appliqué of some sort.

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

Were they able to reproduce the criss cross pattern in the biege field? I couldn't tell from the second picture. I've been trying to figure out a way to do it but haven't found a way to do it yet.
