19.5" five lug wheels for big trucks

I have a set of 7 19.5" tubeless wheels for the larger 1.5 ton trucks and larger of the '40s and '50s. These are the type that came on mid '70s RVs. The rims are in very good condition, just need to be cleaned up and painted. 2 tires are in good useable condition, the other 5 have cracks on...

    Ford script flatbed drawings

For anyone wanting to build a flatbed for their truck I am working on doing a complete dimensional drawing of a Ford script flatbed. I have a complete original bed for my F-4. Some how over the last 50+ years it has remained in very decent, complete shape including all of the original...

    Careful where you run wires

I wire industrial machinery for a living, I run my own company. I've been doing it for about 20 years, I'm always amazed at how some "professionals" route wire. I've worked on machines where wires go through small holes in metal without a rubber bushing or grommet, and no extra slack. I...

Shift pattern '49 Ford F3 4 speed manual

You can find replacement wheels but they won't accept the stock hub caps. Ford used the same bolt patterns until the late mid '90s. You have to make sure the wheels you use will fit over the rear drums, which are larger on the rear than on the front on the pre-'52 F-3s.If you're building...

Shift pattern '49 Ford F3 4 speed manual

Don't worry about not remembering to start in second, you'll only need to do it once.Double clutching is a dieing art but it's not that hard to master. Once you get the rythm of driving the old beast you might be able to shift without using the clutch, I can do it if I'm in the right mood. I...

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

I just checked the Dennis Carpenter, Bob Drake and LMC web sites, none of them carry them. They show up on eBay quite often. That may be your best bet.

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

Man, if you posted that reply on the other Ford truck site they would chew you up and spit you out. For some reason that subject use to ignite a firestorm of negative reaction, now the question gets pretty much ignored, I thing because it's been beat to death over there. I've never tried to...

    Transforming a '50 F3 into a 4x4

The '89 axle will be too wide for the fenders on your '50. You need axles, both front and rear from a pre '73 Ford truck. There is a small difference in width between the '48-52 truck and the pre '73. I think the difference between the '89 and the older axle is about 5-6 inches.

bobj49f2's mirror trick (lots of pics)

I'm glad the article could help.I have a set on my panel truck. They work great, I also stuck a 2-3" convex mirror on the inside bottom corner of the passenger side mirror, it really helps to see what is on the side of the truck. If you what experience blind spots drive a panel truck. I...

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

I wonder how they put the criss cross pattern on at the factory. I wonder if they painted it and then ran some kind of roller over it of stamped it with a die of some sort. I doubt it was a appliqué of some sort.

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

Were they able to reproduce the criss cross pattern in the biege field? I couldn't tell from the second picture. I've been trying to figure out a way to do it but haven't found a way to do it yet.

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

Hey Tim, I have a simple stock panel truck, it's not an amored car! I would almost feel safer hauling a few gold igots in the back than a couple of gallons of gas:guns:

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

I haven't had a chance to play with the gauge/sending unit much yet. I was able to do a potential test on the "new" unit. I got 10 ohms when empty and 74 ohms when full. I dug out a stock unit yesterday and go just about 0 when empty and 94 to 160 when full. I think the stock unit might be...

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

Hey guys.Well since my first post I got the overheating problem (which wasn't a problem, just a bad sending unit) under control. Now I have to get the fuel gauge working, which I haven't had a chance to seriously look into yet.

It's spring, is anyone doing anything?

I got one of my trucks out of winter storage, the panel truck.Today I started working on chasing the overheating problems with the flattie, again. Today I swapped in another radiator from my stash, the the last one so I hope it works. I did find one leak in it but plugged it with some...

    Truck build photos

I didn't see the last posts about my avitar until today, I didn't get a email notification that there was a reply to my post. The avitar is made of three panels that I drew myself, the signature I also set up myself. I also did all of the art work on my web site.

For California big truck owners-wheels on uPay

Just a heads up for you guys in CA looking for wheels for your F-4 to F-6 trucks here's a deal that looks like it's going to slip away. This trailer is on uPay, ending today, that I think has, count them, at least nine wheels they might fit your trucks. I can't tell real easily from the...

    "new" 9" rear end

I'm not really going to hot rod it. I want to keep it mostly stock. I do have a dual carb set up for the flattie though. Once I get the overheating problem solved then I can get the rear end in and the manifold installed and see what it can do.I have a stock F-2 with flat six and four...

    "new" 9" rear end

Haven't seen much action so I thought I would try to add some life with a mudane post.I finally found a '72 9" rear axle for the panel truck. I've been looking for some time and all the ones I found at the swapmeets were in the $400-500, a little nuts for an old rear end I thought. I found...

    9" open to limited slip?

Just found this post as I was checking the Early F-Series forum.I just bought a 9" rear for my '48 panel. It's looks practically new with new drums, shoes and hardware. There's new RTV in on the 3rd member so I am assuming the internals have been gone over. I got the whole unit, with drive...

    Board seems kind of slow

I figure even though there are boards dealing with a similar topic(s) there are always some one who doesn't visit every board, I'm kind of obsessed with old Ford trucks so I try to find as much info about the that I can.If nothing else, I am hoping my post shoots a little juice into this board.
