Doug and fellas......what about this baby for baby #2:

It's not as showy, but I think it has everything we want.....it's not a 73-77 like mine, but still:

Nice looking Short Box. I'm not crazy about the white striping. Racetrack chrome would look awesome. Trucks not perfect and would still have to be weary of hidden rust. The inside bottom doors look a little rusty, but looks like surface rust. If it's solid like the pics show, than it would be a nice project to make perfect. Price is kinda getting up there though, but it is a shortbox which is appealing to many.

Good catch Brad...that guy has been embarrassed and called to the carpet so many times it's not even funny. He's changed his username so many times, it's hard to tell if that's actually him. I always felt his telltale signature was painting drip rail trim and somewhere on the truck there would be some overspray...and if he claims there's a front 60...you might wanna double check.

One thing about whoever is selling that truck, at least he did take many detailed photos. The pics don't look too bad.

I noticed the little bit of surface rust. I also noticed the rear bumper seems to be bent, unless it's a camera trick or just the angle.

Overall pretty nice truck. As Buck said, will take some finishing.

Looks like some pretty tall blocks over the rear axle, but I scare easily when it comes to somebody else's lifts.

Will also want to ask about or check out the wiring for the trailer connection in the back. I didn't see a trailerbrake under the dash? which would be a major reason for installing the trailer connection in the back, unless it was used to tow a very light trailer.

Also doesn't look like much has been done to the engine, compared to the rest of the truck. Looks like it has cruise control (has a 80 - 86 hornpad w/ cruise) but I don't see the servo unit in the engine bay. It might be hiding behind the air filter.

Lots of questions to ask.

Not a bad looking short bed. The white pen stripe and the grey or silver stripe around the wheel wells is deceiving. The paint job was a little short as far as the door jambs.
There' s a lot of extra wiring under the hood , along with a pipe plug clamped in a hose. Not sure what that's about. Rear bumper is twisted. And a little electrical tape helps hold the wrong year horn pad on.
The bed is in about as good a shape as mine was.

That hose with the plug looks about the right size for the air pump, which is probably missing.

Yeah, homemade lifts (if that's what it is) are scary as you've all pointed out in the past.

I noticed the engine didn't have anywhere's near the attention the outside did.

Never noticed the electrical tape.....that's scary! Don't you love the ad: "!NO RUST!".

Not much gets passed you fellas....man, what would you have said if I sent you the ad from when I purchased my rig?

Doug and Mark would say, "Man, Ken, go buy this rig now or I'm buying it cause I can't find a single thing wrong with it and price is a freakin steal! This thing is perfect and you can't go wrong with it!" :wasntme:

I still like that other short box and if the price stays close to where it is, would be tempting.....

This one, although the pictures are horrible (he's probably using a camera phone from the 90's) this one looks like there are far little flaws.

Not crazy about the bumper and winch, I'd want a small lift to match mine, but there's no electrical tape on this one.

Looks nice . If its a 460 engine its not original. Why did he need a b&m shifter ?
I've never seen the door pull handle on a dent before, but might be a good idea.

Door pulls not a bad idea, but drilling holes in the door like that....I'm not sure I would do that.

Wonder if the Looney Tunes floor mats stay with the truck?

I've seen where people install some sort of pull handle to keep stress off of an already broken door panel where the arm rest is. Usually when doors get out of adjustment, hinges rusty or the stricker bolt is out of adjustment, the doors can be hard to get shut so the continued stress breaks the door panels. Rather than fixing the primary issue to have the doors shut nice, people install a pull handle. Not sure why the owner of that truck installed them, but it's not a terrible idea.

Did the other guy in Maine ever drop the price to a reasonable level?

Hey Doug, he dropped it to $12k which the wifey and I considered and thought of offering him $10k thinking we'd have to dumb it down with a couple grand in improvements/un-improvements........he kinda disappeared and hadn't heard back.....my guess is someone bidding on his latest auction offered 10-11k and he jumped.

The matts would be the first to go and I'd ask that he lower his price a grand if he kept them.

Door handle pull is kinda odd also....maybe the panel was getting too much abuse from being pulled.

Did I say that nothing gets past you guys....wow! smilieFordlogo
