the stock E7 heads are junk unless you put alot of money into them, after having them rebuilt, valve job, shaved, etc, you might as well had bought a set of aftermarket heads...

but to the HP part... your gonna have issues... aint it staying SD? not MAF.. there are certain combo's that should be able to get you to that point... heres a basic one...

Custom Cam (contact a cam company to find out whats best for you! make sure they know your running Speed Density, they might laugh... it has to be a smooth idle cam and produce atleast 14* of vacuum. or else your screwed...)
GT40 Heads or better aftermarket
Long Tube Headers
.030 overbore, Flat Top Pistons, but you'll likely run into an issue of the valves hitting the pistons if you shave the head and you'll have a compression number thats high, like 11:1.. which is way high..

and you do realize if your doing the bore and heads, your really rebuilding the engine and its gonna cost some dough??? 2k is minimum i'd set aside if i was doing the same..

I'm not very well versed with the small blocks, but do know that a good cam and long tubes can get you close to that 300hp number, when all else is stock. So it should be too difficult to achieve your goal. I assume a good set of heads will put you over that mark.

Edit...looks like Chris already took care of it, with a more in depth answer anyway.

hehe.... i've learned quick....

So I was gonna go with a .40 bore and a set of pistons to match and I orederd a new intake and efi kit from edelbrok and a mild cam from comp cams. But ur right on the heads talked to local engine shop he said for the extra money order new heads cuz e 7 s suck.

ThThe kit is still sd but its sequntchul fireing and is fully tunable. What the kit is is to swap a carb to efi. Decide to go with this for new intake larger throtl body, wiring harness, distributer, 29 lb injectors and I can plug it in and tune it or adjust for anything. Downide it coust 3500 but its what im after and im going to be over the 350 I wanted

DUDE NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! total waste of money..... that 3500 can buy you dam near 550 horses by itself with a stock part MAF swap, larger injectors, Larger MAF, aftermarket intake and a tune at the local dyno.... thats outrageous.. i would never suggest buying that unless your talking BIG BIG BIG power and a huge stroker kit and etc....

PARTS INSTEAD:

REBUILD KIT: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEM-MHP176-311/ WAIT TILL ALL MACHINE WORK IS DONE BEFORE YOU BUY A KIT!!!
INTAKE:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-3881/
HEADS: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AFR-1388/
INJECTORS: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACC-150824/

like i said before, the Cam is a very important part, dont get some off the shelf everyday cam... decide on what your gonna want, and comtact a Custom Cam Grinding company... Crower Cams does them, and comp does too.... to bad Jay Allen isnt sick or i'd turn you to him... he's the best there is...

all the parts i through up there are for a MAF system with a larger maf sensor and a tune on the computer or it wont run quite right...

im not expert though, talk to a engine builder you trust first... dont take my words as gods words...

just for ***** and giggles.... it took me 2 months to read this thread im fixing to post a link to...

its a 347 Stroker using a Mexican 5.0 block... makes over 700 HP at the Flywheel on a non friendly dyno..... using mostly OTS parts with a custom cam and a HUGE intake.... alot of parts that should never work together but he knows what he's doing and the cam made it all work together...

its a thread to bust a bunch of myths..... OVER 200 PAGES of serious discussion...

I agree at the moment its not worth it but its a down the road purches. It will do what I want for now and when other things come for the engine itll be thier. I have thought about the maf system but like I said when the time comes this is th way. Not trying to be an a,hole. Put a lot of thought before I did the purches. I personlay like to be able plug my computer in and tune while im going. If im not happy ill find out and rethink the maf
