79 F-350 Lariat

well looking around craigslist to see where this guy gets his trucks, i found this one
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/1054613996.html

i was hoping to see basically the exact same one he has on ebay
either and old listing of it, or a current listing that he just puts "feelers" out on ebay to see how much people are willing to pay for them. either way, neat low mile truck above for cheap

Its' a cool looking truck; but I just don't trust him! Look under the hood along the firewall. Looks like a different color of blue to me... New Carb and intake?.. on a truck with "13,000 miles" (according to the detail listing) but where does he get these trucks anyway? Even if they are not all he says, they still are pretty cool!
Dak

Yeah Dak that's what I'm sayin...13000 original miles on a 460...something ain't adding up. Can't trust the guy. The stuff he finds is pretty cool, and I'll give him that. If he would be truthful about it, no big deal...and I'd probably be drooling over what he has...fact of the matter is, he's not so it pisses me off.

As for where he gets them...I hear he checks the classifieds and the like for miles around, then touches up the rigs...then tries to sell them at ridiculous prices. Sad part is, most of the auctions he ends early actually go to buyers.

Lol My first post was messed up so I deleted it quickly hoping no one saw it. Too late.

I'm in the process of looking for a Gen 5 or 6 ( most likely a 6) So I've been lookin at ebay alot lately and finding alot of not so good deals, so now I'm keeping a eye out for this guy after reading this thread.

HAHAHA...yep I caught ya. I was bored in my real estate finance class...so I was all over your post. Where are you located? It might be cheaper...but certainly quicker to just buy a truck from the west coast or SE and have it shipped. Shipping really isn't bad, I had 10,000lb '62 F700 4x4 shipped from Idaho for $1600...and I've heard of guys getting dentsides shipped half way around the country for about $800. But like I always say...don't force a buy, you don't pick the truck, the truck picks you.

I suspect it has been bondo'd up. If you look at the pic you can almost see the line between metal and mud where it was not feather edged in right.

HAHA...that was the exact pic I was talking about when I said it looked bondo'd. Quite the 'all original' truck if you ask me. Bondo, swapped engine, different rims, and I'm sure the list goes on.

Scott...did I mispeak about one side of the bed only having 2 tie downs (Ford din't actually do that right)...or is that another 'all original' quirk?

No they got 3 on each side and I think it was 2 on the gate.

There not even XLT panels. You could nit pick his stuff all day long but unfortunately an unexperienced buyer won't know any better.

All original with 13,000 miles? With screws holding the door panels on?? I think not...:rotz:

HAHAHAHA...I didn't even realize that'smiliedoh'...unless of course those are the ever so rare Ford sheet metal screws...in which case he'd have a gold mine.

I overlooked the panels Scott...good catch. As I said before, they are nice looking trucks, and I wouldn't mind having a few, so I do feel kinda bad for nitpicking. But what gets me is the fact that he is knowingly lying about his stuff, then when he gets called out, he plays dumb. And those that are inexperienced are getting ripped off...oh well ignorance is bliss.

Hey Look...the jerk seller is selling my truck...well sorta:

I'm gonna have to say, it looks like he's being pretty honest with this one. However, I'm not sure if the paint scheme is true, so I'll defer that to someone else, also what about the red gas cap? I still say the truck has probably been touched up and the paint isn't from the factory, and the mileage is probably higher too.

Please sir, show me that Original trim scheme.

Trim #1 is close but not exact as the truck

Thanks for answering my deferral Dennis...I've seen that scheme a couple times before, but never remembered seeing it in any brochures...so I couldn't answer without hesitation.

I want the Red one anyway!! Oh the fun I could have!

The 73 looks to be, based on the set back axle and the badge, a camper special? Under 15K?.. well it's too much, but a cool truck nonetheless!

That 73 is definitely a "put-together" truck. The bed is a camper special bed which never came out on 4x4s. And he replaced the fender badging with a newer style F350. Nice truck though, but would raise some flags. Plus F35 is for F350, but a 2wd.

That red truck looks extremely nice.

Damn guys...didn't even realize the extended wheel base...definitely adds to the cool factor, always wanted to build a 4x4 SCS. Had a chance a 74 scs 4wd dually, waaaaay cool rig btw, but it sold the night I was thinking over buying it. I knew the truck in question was pieced together, but the seller seemed to leave any 4wd conversion out...so I wanted to see what kinda stories you guys could come up with...haha.

It is cool because it has the camper special bed so that makes it pretty unique. If the swap done right, it would be an awesome truck. The rear axle would have had to be moved back to fit the bed which is not that big of deal so as it was done right. Also, if his description would have been better, it would make the truck better. It just seems like things are hidden just to try and get some poor sucker who doesn't know any better for a boatload of cash. Starting out with the description of his "grandfather owning it since 73" trying to make it sound like it's an original 4x4. Nothing was mentioned about the 4x4 swap or anything. I don't like to condone these types of trucks, but I would like to see a more detailed description.

I left him a message.

Let's see if he responds
