Looks nice, but make sure you ban any drinks or food from being in it - that leather is VERY difficult to clean and maintain properly.

My thought is that I would be hesitant to buy a vehicle that's spent as much time sitting as that one clearly has.

Some people swear by low miles, but I've actually owned a low-mile "little old lady only drove it to church" kinda car. Gimme something a couple years old with 25-30k/year on it instead- as long as there's a maintenance history and the general condition of the truck suggests the owner was careful.

smilieIagree smiliewhathesaid My newest Ford is a '92, so I'm out of the loop, but it does look very nice!

We don't normally buy later model vehicles.....but we're forced to this year for taxes....our two company vehicles are fully depreciated and we NEED some deductions, so AGAINST OUR FISCAL will, we're buying a new SUV for the wifey and a new-ish truck for me!

Thanks for the tip......I didn't know.

This is a good point and unless it's the 77 or 79, I'm not to going to treat this any other way than reliable transportation for my family. I'll still take care of it mind you and I absolutely love cleaning my vehicles, so that's a given.

This is interesting and a good topic of discussion....I didn't think that really. I was always under the impression that low miles was better than a later year....7 years and only 25k miles....maybe it's a negative, while I was thinking this was a good thing.....thanks Ian.

Keep an eye out for cam phaser issues.. Put year ear in passenger fender well if it sounds like a diesel.. RUN... RUN away fast..

Not sure what this is, but now that you mention it, I'll listen more carefully if I decide to go look at it.

I'm sure you would have a "list of rules for use" for that company truck Ken, regardless of Austin's detailing....:D

Not many rules really.......:wasntme:

Thanks again fellas....

^^^^ I am a little frustrated at the local dealerships....it is rural Maine, so I understand, but man, hardly anything to really choose from....we have to travel to a larger city like most people do where I live in order to have more options.

For me, I need a bed (short isn't that big a deal, probably better so wifey won't have a hard time parking and driving in town if she needs to use it), it has to be a crew cab, automatic, 4wd. Other than that, I don't have a lot of must haves......most of my other requirements are standard these days in late model vehicles.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave the state of Maine in order to get a decent vehicle for me and the wifey before December 2013 (if anyone has any decent deals in the Northeast region - don't want to drive any further south than maybe PA, NJ, and DC for either of these two cars).

I think that's a good looking truck...short of the tacky window/door handle chrome...and you know I love chrome. And I loooooooove the distressed leather.

I'll echo what Ian was saying...sort of. Sitting does create it's own bushel of problems, but I think the low miles outweighs them. The critical components (ie engine, trans, etc) are expected to be further away from failure.

I wouldn't know the difference between a gas cap and a crank sensor on that thing, so 25k for something that's 7 years old (read out of warranty)...I'd want someone very qualified to look it over.

Personally...I'd rather go get a brand new truck (2013) for the same money on up to 15k more. These e-prices are pretty par for the course in my area right now:

XLT 5.0 $28850:

Curiously enough...looks like the 2013 'deals' are on par with local 2011-2012 asking prices. I think I'd try to target one of those 'deals' before I went after a 7 year old truck that's only 5-10k less.

Portland doesn't have what you need?

We haven't looked yet.....I figured their dealerships were just as bad as our local ones and was going to look for a 1-5 year old personal sale on ebay or craigslist.

Dang Ben....I had no idea the new ones could be that far below MSRP.....the local dealerships are trying to sell for 1-2k under MSRP up here....I'd buy that 28k one in a second.....like Doug said, I may need to venture a tad further from where I live.

That 28k truck is a 4x2... as is the next one.....

Didn't see that when I posted...so add an extra 2-3k for a comparable 4x4 truck Ken. I'd still take a brand new 30k truck over a 7 year old 25k any day of the week.

Incidentally, I was going to offer the guy $20k.....he's definitely negotiable because the ad clearly states Or Best Offer.
