i can afford... a cam and headers.. OR 1.7 rockers and headers.. not both becuase of lift kit and tires..

ROCKERS:
ADVANTEGES: easy to install er
DISADVANTEGES: not so much power... and they are pricey$$$$$ 255$ to be exact

these ones

CAM
ADVANTEGES: very good amount of power...
DISADVANTEGES: hella of allot more work and need more parts... new springs.. and timing chain set... it will be total of about 275$ a little more pricey but for ALLOT more power... and do i need new cam bearings? i dont wanna take the engine out of the engine compartment..

this is the cam

The links aren't working , did you have them in your cart when you copied them?Any mod in my opinion is a start , can't wait til I have the cash to start some more mods.

If it were me, I'd go with the rockers. I just don't think I would be up to changing the cam and timing chain and stuff.

I have put a higher lift cam in an engine with high miles before and had a problem. The valve stems had a bit of carbon build up on them and since they were being opened farther than before, the build up would catch in the valve guides and make them stick open on occasion. The guides eventually wore out.

I don't know. The rockers would increase the lift at the valves. I don't know if the problem that I had is common or not. Maybe somebody else can chime in if they've heard of what I described.

Just a thought.. with the cam swap you're going to have to pull the distributor, intake, timing cover, replace lifters as well as timing chain (better safe that sorry, and easier to do while it's tore down) and you won't see the full benefit with the SD injection. Not to mention getting it all set up correctly and all that. I just don't see it being worth the trouble without the MAF conversion.

I'd go with the rockers and headers to start.. don't forget the full exhaust to back it up. Or even just longtubes for now and worry about the cam swap later.

:)

The thing you have to look at here is if you are going to put a cam in it would be worthwhile to put in new bearings. A lot of parts stores will let you rent a cam bearing install for cheap and its not that hard to do. Just make sure you use assembly lube on the bearings. Do not be afraid to be aggressive with the lube. Just change the oil within 500-100 miles after the swap. However, if you have weak valves or the guides have excessive clearance you are going to have to spend some money at the machine shop. Headers will free up some power, but the cam is a big player. If you are willing to go this, with the time involved, you should pull the heads, and if you are unable, you should take them to a machine shop and have a 3 angle valve job done. That is what I would do, although I would do the valve job myself. Then once you have the cam in with a new valve job and are not satisfied then switch the rockers.
