I am having the same problem with my 81 smallblock. Mine only starts it once then gets stuck engaged after the truck starts. I cant figure it out eather. good luck

Ive got an 81 F 350 with a 351w in it and a hydraulic clutch/4 speed.Will the y pipe from a 94 F 250 2 wheel drive 351w fit my truck? It comes off in 2 pipes where it meets the cat and im planning on useing it to make dual exaust.Just wondering if anyone else has ever tryd this.

It finally runs!The timing chain was so loose it was barely catching the bottom sprocket.Still have a lot of problems to work out but it will smoke the 35's no problem.

I looked on the internet and a 60, 61 and 70 all look alike. Somebody told me that ford put 70's in the rear of the trucks that have 50 front ends. I gotta get my girlfriend to take a pic of it and post it on here for me.

The cap and wires I originally took off the 351 when I got the truck and put them on the 400 because it needed a cap and that one was new.Im about to go out and play with it now so Ill let ya guys no what happens.

Can you fabricate the hd 44 into the coil spring mounts and radius arm mounts then you can keep the hole axle?

I think it deserves a dana 60 with the coil springs and a dana 60 rear or bigger with 5:13 gears and then you can pound it with those 42's and show them Chevys up.

Im almost a hundred percent sure that the fireing order is the same as the 400m. All I did was take the cap and wires off the 400 and put them right onto the 351.

All my friends are telling me to get a chevy and I wouldnt have these problems but I dont think I could do that.Love my Fords!

I have a spark tester on the #1 plug wire and I also got lit up from the coil.That fealt really good.Im pretty sure its on the compression stroke, it blew my finger out when it came up.

How can you tell the difference between a dana 60 and 70? My 81 f 350 (I think, it has a 150 cab) has a dana 50 front end and Im not sure what the rear is. It looks bigger than a 60, has the inch and sixteenth lug nuts with reverse thread on the drivers rear. No tags eather. Any ideas?

I was thinking timing also but Ive pulled the distributer, #1 plug, and got it tdc at least 10 times. Even the timing mark lines up with the main pulley.Nothing has gone right doing this swap. My pedals were out of an 88 and wouldnt fit under the 81 dash so I had to change the hole dash in it...

If I get the 3 wires mixed up from the wireing harness to the distributer would that make the coil get the full 12 volts? If i dump a lot of gas down the carb it will backfire back threw the carb and start the thing on fire!

The wires on the distributer are the same as the older 400 just different colors. Theres 3 of them just the plug was cut off. I love this truck and really want to hear it run, shes got 35 inch Boggers and it loves the mud.
