just a mini update...still awaiting a front end..I have the 44hd all apart , cleaned and started getting a parts list together...I have yet to buy the parts and low and behold a dually d60 pops up in an affordable price range...problem being the rest of the pieces.., but we shall see ..this guy...
Hey all. The project is still moving...slower than I like , but no major bumps yet..
Working outside makes available time hard..I finally slapped some por-15 on the rails..and actually started drilling for the 4wd brackets.
The more I try and layout a situation for mounting the 44HD pivot...
Just a shot in the dark here.. My lights were pulsing as well. If you stick a voltmeter/testlight on the single/skinny wire that plugs into the alt with a plastic conector , you should not get any voltage with the key off... (not sure if your year has the same alt/reg setup?)
My ext...
Hi Lost , ya that may have been easier in some ways and definately alot easier as far as brackets/rivets go.
In my case I chose to put in the insane work simply because the parts are being given to me from a friend...And where the donor truck is a 6.9/t19 it makes other aspects alot easier...
Well things are moving, not as fast as I'd like, but its moving.
Have so far pulled the tranny , and drivesr side front suspension and shock tower..on to the other side and get the frame cleaned and painted up with some POR-15.
Donor truck is ready for a motor pull then I can attack the donor...
well pulled the donor t19/1345 t case this past weekend..all went well except the two units wanted to stay together, so they came down as one..
so I will be pulling the axles on the 44 , both u joints are toast.
looking at clutches and parts now, figuring its a good time to freshen this part...
well here are a few pics of the bed off(cleaning up frame and cab sheetmetal work), and radiator supprt mount job...figured while the front end is apart , good time to get at those bracket rivetsThe only interference i can think of with the steering linkage are the "push bars" . they mount to...
I have decided to do it...I have been reading and reading and still searching the web .
My truck is a 6.9/t19/ drw d60
I have at my fingertips drivetrain/suspension parts from an 86 f250 6.9/t19/BW1345 /sterling full floatSo I know its a crazy idea, lots of bracket removal and reinstall...
Just picked up and old under hood electric/hydraulic 8 foot fisher for the 6.9/350...searching the web and hoping to find some pics of the electric pump and valve body installed on the 6.9 or even a gas motor
going to have to do some mods i am sure cause i beleieve the mounts i have are for a...
Well so car I have verified that it has. T19 webbing on t case tells me its a 13-45. And gvw is 8600 lbs...so.if I have read correctly that makes this f250 an HD and should have. D50??
Would the size of the front springs say anything...ghey seem to be 3" springs...some one told me I could tell...
Hmmm...someone told.me to stay away if its a np208.. lol... was told that if it has an hd d50 it.may have a 1345 t case...havnt confirmed yet... need to get to the parts truck to confirm
Thanks
P.S. my 2wd has the t19... I am assuming the f250 does as well.?
Are these the same ? I have an 86 6.9 4wd parts truck with manual trans. Thinking 1ton axle under the 6.9.. wondering if this case can be used with the silid axle?
Thanks
So I am ready to toast some new beru/motorcraft plugs. I have gone as far as trying to put a load on the gp relay just to see if I could make something show its face. On and off nice and clean..only used a heater motor and drop light. But nothing showing sighns of relay failing under load...
Sorry. Yep the new regulator solved the draw and the pulsating.. I thought they were bigger I thought my shop man showed 100.. figured it made sense with the two batteries and glow plugs
Ok ran the truck this weekend. Started with only plenty of cranking power and a block heater. My sacrificial glow plug is NOT swollen. Just a litt le carbon or soot...so I can't stick.12v on this thing???
Gave it a shot today... low 70's in the sun. Apx 21/4 hrs on the. Block heater.had to jump it to get some speed. Running one batt. But it fired up after a little cranking.
Well. I still havnt powered. The plug. What voltage is it 12v for the 88 bullet style? Did get it started without ether or plugs..so I will check the plug tomorrow after a dump run.
Well a neighbor found an old bullet style from one of his old 88 trucks..
Its a good used autolite...so I was going to try it just to see if the plug swelled after giving it juice...Then I had an even better idea...just for the sake of eliminating posibilities..I am sticking the known good...
Well I got the old one working, just needed an AC chord..going to try it today...conducting an experiemnet of sorts..funny how I found a good chord on my 98 F150 all tied up on the frame...Canada built truck??? I agree even if it worked, I wouldnt want the hassle, more of an aid on those really...
So my neighbor saw me messing with the ol oil burner and was asking about my.truck
I told him the troubles I was having and he suggested to me to not.bother with the plugs and just use the block.heater...now I know this is not always convenient. But is a block.heater enough to.warm the.motor.up...
Its funny. I have purchased quite a bit from rockauto.. and I have looked a handfull of times. I was certain I didn't see the zd1a on the list...shoot..that's easy enough..ordering them.up tonight
Thanks guys
Still woried I'm going to toast them..
Well just checked. None around me but I can order online for 11.49 . Something tells me after shipping it will still be cheaper than the dealer. Lol guess it wouldn't hurt to call and check
Sorry guys.. missed this one.. funny now with my glow plug issues I may consider. It. The thing that scares me is the supposed premature ware it it causes on the rings. This ether squirter came with a buddys parts truck...maybe he won't want it. Hmmmm.. not giving up on the glow plugs just yet
Stuck my bezel bac on to use the glow plug light. Made a dump run and no abnormal relay activation.
Still searching.
Guess I could blow another $40 on 4 motorcrafts just to eliminat that possibility? ?
Well..without the controller.hooked up I put my momentary. Switch that switches 12v in its place... unless I am.missing something.. I did see your link but my gen truck.seems even.simpler.. just 12v to.energize the relay. And the relay is simply switch the high current 12v straight to the glow...
I held them.on for.apx 6-9 quick.seconds in fear of leaving it on too long..I got those numbers frok the 86 shop manual.
Also called my bud who was the previous owner of my old 86 that never had trouble.he sId he used autolite and champions. And in 4 yrs of owning it I never had a glow.plug...
interesting stuff on the mil spec plugs..i do have 86 shop man here and it states they use a 6v plug for a quick heat....not sure on the harness it does look original, i am getting a little drop after the harness but maybe less than a half of a volt, so pretty much 12v getting to the glow...
