You shouldn't be having a problem. I put a 2.5" on mine, and have been around four more guys who have done the same with no problem. I also know a guy who is running a 3'' leveling kit with no problem. I'm running 35" tires on mine, and no shake/shimmy. Do you still have the old tire/rim...
Wow, just read your whole thread, and I'm impressed! Good looking truck, you have one of the best bases to start from. Those things are beasts, I've had a couple and love them. The 352 you have is a good engine, they made good power and respond to bolt ons. The edelbrock is the only...
Look into the coverlay for your existing padded dash, their cheap and look decent. I put one in an 86 Bronco, you can't even tell its not a real dash unless you know... I think they're about $100 through LMC for a bumpside. Not show quality, but way better than a cracked pad and looks pretty...
Wow, I didn't realize they were that rare. I've been thinking about converting mine to 4x4, but everything else I own already is... And I just recently got bitten by a boat bug, so all my money is going into the water.
the AE-H heads are the high perf 390 heads, if I remember right. I'm pretty sure this is the head that came on the S code 390, one of the best fe heads until you get into the 427 heads (cobra jet).
I've used Seafoam for years, I use it regularly, just put a can in the gas every so often. It is the best fuel fuel system/ fuel injector/ carb cleaner I have found.
I got a rebuild kit for mine when I bought my 76 in 1999, they said it had been setting on the shelf for years and they thought they'd never sell it. My power steering didn't work, I installed the kit and it started working. It steers easier to the right than it does to the left, but it is...
I'd stay local too, you can take it back if you have problems. Last thing you want is to pull then engine and ship it back to someone then try to explain via email what the problem is. Not to mention a local shop always seems cheaper to me, and you help your local economy...
I'm running some 32/11.5 on the back of mine right now, they fill it up pretty nice. But they do make the 235/70 on the front look to small, need bigger to fill up the wheel well. All on 15" wheels, just some junky tires I had laying around. When I buy tires I think I'll step down to 31's for...
you want a four speed from a truck, NP435. The Mustang 4 speed is called a "toploader", built by Ford. Way back when, some guys used to by floor shifters for the 3 speed in early Broncos (same tranny you have) to get rid of the column shifter. The truck 4 speed is a 3 speed for highway...
And the normal glove box is so small you can't hardly fit anything in it, if I remember right. The extra one in the AC unit isn't much better. And changing a heater core in one is REALLY tough! This is on the factory AC.
OK, just for you guys, here it is sitting in my yard:looking in from the passenger door:looking into the cab from the camper:and looking at the hole in the roof that has sat through at least one if not two Colorado winters at 9,000 ft:
I'll try and get some better pics posted for you guys this weekend, of the interior and such. The camper is full of crap - I counted six computers. I'm gonna fill up a dumpster just cleaning it out to see what I've got... Once I get it cleaned up, I'll be able to tell if the camper is...
The truck probably is, but the builder (?) put the bucket seats in it, and cut the back of the cab out to make it a walk through. If you wanted to salvage the truck you would need to replace the cab. I do have a cab, but don't know what I'd want with a chassis that long. I have toyed with...
So I got it today, no title but it's mine and its home now. The camper is pretty much shot, but loads of good parts. Good windshield, NP435, grill shell, headliner, bucket seats (not factory), and what looks to be factory AC. Has a blue oval on it in the middle any way. I may be able to save...
Yep, I've had this Galaxie for over 20 years, eventually will get to restoring it. I've always loved the 66/67 Fairlanes, but can't find them at all. This Galaxie I have is an S code 390 car, and I've got all the origional parts (I drove it up until 10 years ago). I want to change it to a...
Hell Bent Steel leveling kit, 2.5" will allow you to clear 35" tires. I've got one on my 06, running 34" tires just fine. My brother in law just put the same kit on his and is running 35"s just fine. Best of all the kit is only 69$!
Good luck Ben, those are getting rarer every day. Personally, I don't care for stepsides and REALLY don't like the long beds, but there's no accounting for taste. I'd say if you really want it you better jump, you may never find another. I've got a 66 Galaxie 500 (2 door hardtop) just for...
So is your 69 right hand drive? Did Ford manufacture right hand drive on the old ones? Seems like I've seen one, on one of the car shows that come on Saterday morning or somthing. If not, did you convert it? Curious... looks like that thing is gonna be super wicked. Have you figured out...
Gotta agree with everyone above. The shortbox does add some value, but the flat rattle can detracts. Some like the little differences of the 67, but some don't (I personally don't). Overall the truck looks pretty clean and nice, but I'd still say 3K is too much. Good luck if you get it.
your truck has torsion bar suspension, and the leveling kit is just another "key" that the hex (that slides onto the torsion bar) is indexed differently, so that when installed it forces more twist into the bar, therefore forcing the tire down which lifts the truck up. And yes, you need an...
Just a thought, but if you can get your hands on a dentside bed, you can probably use most of it and put your bump side panels on it to make a bed. Very few would be able to tell the difference...
