i say pay a prof. to detail it first time. nothing like using a machine to make paint shiny. then you can use clay bars and all the other goodies people suggested. if they have never been waxed or taken car of best way to do it.

i doubt it's the plow i think like you said tracing the brake switch wires back will be more fruitful in finding the issue
