No start

I have a 1998 f150 5.4 Ltr. Got the truck from a friend and the motor supposedly just needed put back together and would run but it has no compression / no start .

No compression? Did you put a compression gauge on it?

No I did not put a compression gauge on it but it has very little pressure when turned over. I was wondering if it could be that the hydrologic lifters haven't been primed???
