  1. What did you do to your Dent today v2

Suspended the collision insurance the other day and put Stabil in the fuel tanks yesterday. Time for it to hibernate until spring. :(
  2. Replacement Western Style Mirrors

Does anyone know of any replacement western style mirrors that are adjustable up/down as well as in/out. I'm pretty tall and I have to crouch down to see out my mirrors and it's getting old. Plus the old ones are getting rusted up so some new shiny ones would look a whole lot better.
  3. What did you do to your Dent today v2

That's what I have trouble seeing in my truck too. Dash is tolerable, but those LED's sure make it better.Got some new inside door panels, pads, and finger cups a while back to replace the busted ones from when someone took my truck for a joyride smiliecrybaby It's about to go into winter...
  4. Recommendations For Rebuilt 2150 Carburetor

Awesome, thanks for looking! Reinforces the track we were on. Might order 57-59 just incase it needs a little more with the headers on it.That's what I figured with the build location. Run the plants at capacity and ship the trucks where they needed to go.
  5. Recommendations For Rebuilt 2150 Carburetor

Thanks for the link! I'm honestly not sure what's in there now since I wasn't the one working on it. The guy said he didn't have the jet size I needed at the time, but put in as close to what was needed out of what he had in his little shop. He thought it needs to be in the 57-58 range. I know...
  6. Recommendations For Rebuilt 2150 Carburetor

Kinda late to the party here, but the rebuilt carb that came on the 400 in my '79 F150 has mostly been a headache. I think the guy that I got the truck from said the carb came from O'reilly's so don't get one there. An old mechanic that's pretty sharp said it was setup more for a 302. Still...
  7. water coming in

I get water coming in mine through the foot vent on the passenger side if it rains very hard. I need to take it all apart and check out why. I suspect enough stuff has fallen in the top opening between the hood and windshield to block any kind of drain hole it may have before coming in the...
  8. Another Nice Barn Find

I support this decision! I've always wanted a crew cab version stretched to a long box with a nice Cummins swap.
  9. Question About Gas Tank Sending Units

I just had mine out of the plastic tank last summer when I was revamping my fuel system, but I can't remember how long it was. It looked good and was working with the gauge so I didn't pay that much attention to it. Just had to replace the rear one with the new tank. Now the front one isn't...
  10. '79 F-150 Camper Special

I was just about to get rid of Facebook too. Between me and my friend putting the word out, it seemed to have spread pretty far. Gas station attendant I didn't even know all the way across town said "I saw that on Facebook!" when I mentioned it. A few people contacted us saying it was spotted...
  11. '79 F-150 Camper Special

Sure. It was stolen from right in front of my work building at HDR (29th street off of King Ave.). Was found out in Lockwood in the Burger King parking lot.
  12. '79 F-150 Camper Special

Got it back today!!!! Good Samaritan on facebook located it and directed me to its location. It's got some extra mud, a few new scratches down the passenger side, antenna ripped off, and the hand holds on the door panels seem to be ripped lose part way so it must have been a hell of a joyride...
  13. '79 F-150 Camper Special

Well, some scum decided to relieve me of this last night. Hope I get it back in one piece, or at all. Located in Billings, MT, but if you guys start seeing parts for sale resembling this truck in your circles...
  14. Emblem Repair

Has anyone successfully repaired broken mounting pins on the back of the aluminum emblems before? I had my truck parked a little close to the wall in the garage, and the latch on the walk-in door caught my camper special badge and broke one of the two pins off. Dad has a welding business so...
  15. What EXACTLY Was Explorer Trim?

Thanks Ben! I'd be real interested in seeing better photos of that '79 brochure. Depending on the lighting of the photo, someone may have tampered with my truck's original colors slightly. I discovered it has been re-painted at some point because there's some overspray on the back side of the...
  16. What EXACTLY Was Explorer Trim?

So I've been trolling and searching around for a while and I've never come across a brochure or detailed description of what the Explorer trim level included. Most of the answers seem to be "stripes, badging, and seat cover". In the documents thread it has an Explorer brochure, but it's from...
  17. Replacement Fuel Tanks

The Buna-N (nitrile) material should be good with straight gasoline, but like you said ethanol might break it down over time. The SBR doesn't work with gasoline, but is fine with ethanol haha. I can usually get ethanol free premium fuel in Montana so that isn't too much of an issue for me...
  18. Replacement Fuel Tanks

I did find another good plastic tank in a yard, but no shroud and the rubber parts are shot. Got the Dennis Carpenter part on order. Will report back after trying to install it this weekend. This might be as good as it gets for the vent for now...
  19. Replacement Fuel Tanks

That looks like the new rubber for the emissions breather valve (which I need also for both tanks). Could this be the new rubber for the actual fill neck? http://dennis-carpenter.com/fuel-tank-filler-pipe-seal/p/E1AZ-9072-B/ I might order one just to see if it will work. That leaves me with...
  20. Replacement Fuel Tanks

Finally got my box pulled and the fuel tanks removed. The front factory plastic tank is in good shape and isn't cracked and doesn't have any holes. However, the rubber grommets that seal between the tank and the fill/vent tubes are shrunken up and leak when the tank is full. Quick searching...
  21. 240 Electronic Ignition

I have a friend with a '66 F100 that has a 240 engine with points. He's looking to replace it with an updated system. What is required to get this done, price, and are there any companies that are preferred?
  22. What did you do to your Dent today v2

Been driving my '79 around a fair bit now that the weather's nice. Running errands and taking it trap shooting. Going to drive it 200 miles down a pretty desolate highway with marginal cell service tomorrow. Taking it to my dad's place where we have space to pull the box, replace fuel tanks...
  23. Replacement Fuel Tanks

I see a few places have Spectra brand front steel tanks listed for my truck. One review said it didn't fit though. Is that the issue, the ones that are available don't fit in the shroud?LMC doesn't have a front tank listed for my truck.
  24. Replacement Fuel Tanks

This has probably been brought up before, but I'm having issues with the search function on my phone. Where is the best place to get quality replacement fuel tanks for these trucks? Does anyone make plastic tanks that fit in the stock locations? In my 79 f-150 the front tank has a hole that...
  25. So this happened...

FYI there were no 1998 model year heavy duty pickups. They skipped right from 1997 to 1999 with the re-designed "super duty." There were just some light 7 bolt f-250s in the same body as the f-150 at the time like UTfball68 said.Would be really neat to swap that newer coil over front end on...
  26. Engine swap

Gotcha. I saw a picture of a 460 sitting beside a small block and thought the difference might be more significant. You're right on #3 haha. Headers, carb, intake, and maybe a cam. Definitely no porting, overboring, or stroker kits.Didn't get to make it out and eye the donor truck. Got...
  27. Engine swap

Bringing this back up. I'm looking at the prospect of putting a 460 in my '79 f-150 4x4 to replace the 400 that's in it and have a few questions:1. Did Ford do anything different with the front suspension to accommodate the little bit heavier engine? 2. Is there anything I should worry...
  28. '79 F-150 Camper Special

Well I filled the front fuel tank for the first time yesterday. It's either got a rock between the skid plate/tank mount and the tank or the tank is rusted through. Hopefully it's just a rock and I can weld the tank. I couldn't seem to get a hose through the fill neck all the way into the...
  29. Insurance

Haha no the policy I was quoted is much cheaper than that. $230/6 months for full coverage with uninsured & underinsured (had a bad experience once), driving less than 6500 miles a year, and the same medical coverage I have on my regular daily driver truck. $3000 value on the vehicle is what I...
  30. Insurance

I wasn't sure where to put this, but how do you guys go about insuring your old trucks? Liability only, full coverage, value, etc.? I'm going to be putting insurance on my '79 so I can start driving it and the difference between having $3000 full coverage and liability is only $15 every 6...
