cost is big factor in that. yes i can build a 9" tru trac with disks. for total of 2 to 2.5 grand depending if i built it from scratch or buy assembled parts. or i can get a used sterling out of a junk yard and rebuild it with a tru trac for less then 1200. i guess its all about what you start...
hey guys.so i been playing around with the idea putting an 9.75 axle under my 77 from a 05-07 van. i a little more inclined to this route over building a ford 9", because i get a axle that comes with disc brakes, and it has a high payload rating then 9".the only think that is holding me up...
further fun beingsfound what was truly broke. :(. feel even more stupid for the fact that the last 2 times i been in this diff i though it had an open center, so i said screw the rust pitted ring gear and worn spiders.anyone know if you can get the end plate the broke. i've seen spider...
missed this post. Russell, very good advice you have there. while not my problem (ran a test lead up to the battery before posting) grounds seem to often be over looked. i ran a bed, a cab and a engine ground made 4 gauge wire when i started this project a few years back. due to all kinda of...
i rarely tow, and this truck see's everything from mountain roads to long sections of freeway but mainly works are a run about getting stuff my car wont and cruzing. so the 3.50's work well for me matched with a np435. or at lest i think so and i like the fact i can get 11.5 to 13 mpg.
hey guys. im looking into building the 9" i have in my 77 f150. though i shelled out my trans the other night, turns out after going back and looking playing around with it, i lost something in my rear axle.my question about building a 9" is should i go 31 spline or 35 spline with good yukon...
glad you found the issue! rebuild doesn't always mean it was rebuilt well. remember almost anyone can put together an engine that runs. it take an eye for detail to build a engine that runs well and lasts.
np435. seem that input shaft is fine (idles without noise), but boy does she not like moving in any gear. i post a rebuild thread sometime in February. it not big loss it needed a rebuild, input shaft leaked and it howled in 3rd above 3000rpm. i was planing a rebuild in February on it or my...
i am laughing and being sad at the same time. i got walked by a Honda civic.....when i grenaded the transmission stop light racing :(. i guess it finally time to rebuild my spare
i have had a few injected car sit for a long enough to varnish the injectors. sometimes it take a while of running on starting fluid and and some rpm to get them to clean out. intake back fires can happen to as the fuel starts to piddle out the tips
Thanks Doug. i totally missed the fuel level ohm section.
i have a single 19 gallon rear tank. i been suspecting its a wiring issue, sure hoping it isn't a float issue. I really don't want to pull that tank again.all my other gauges work right but i had a spare IVR and a nicer looking fuel...
well i removed the pressure line and inspected the oring again, no cuts, nicks or miss shapes, or hardness. removed the fitting from the pump (should have taken a picture). its oring seal to the reservoir was in great shape as was the discharge oring. cleaned everything up with either and let...
hey guys been on a fix up interior kickreplaced my rust filled gas tank and got a new sender installed in it. so the fuel gauge kinda works again. the gauge will read 3/4 of a tank when its full and 3 needle widths below E when it has 4 gallons left. i cleaned the gauge ground and i have 12v...
some kid who works at one of my buddy's old shops slammed and bagged at gen 1 dodge dulley with a cuminsi do know there was a lot of cutting. the frame got an axle humb welded in. adn it got a 4 link in the back. its been a few years sense i seen the truck and i dont have any pictures
but i...
sorry for the late reply guys.been a very long week. going to remove the port and see if the o-ring behind it is there sealing up the reservoir later then week. stupid thing just leaks while sitting.
hey guysso durning the 429 swap in to my f150, i put and early gen 7 power steering pump (c-ii style) and pressure line on the truck. the pressure line is for and 84 f250 and i just bent the gear box end to work with the truck. anyways the pump uses a "type 1"? line, the standard thread style...
axle u joints bad? what do the spider gears look like? i haven't played with dana front axles much but i know that my 44 with a eaton clutch posi in it isn't hard to turn ever, and doesn't pull the wheel
i agree. a super 44 flowmaster muffler will make almost anything sound mean. they are also a bit loud for any length of driving for my taste.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcqJmwaDfYE
you really shouldn't have any. some bearing will have a little based on design, the slots in the rubber can move a little (see attach link)

2x i think he will make it to.anyways i know you had this truck a while and have kinda been battling this problem but i havn't kept the best track of everything. i cant remember if it was a crate engine that was put in it, or a rebuilt engine etc. i know it sat for some time. i know you have...
i should say this it runable and shouln't cause issue. but i fussy and i like to play with it everything is dead center.i would like to see the drive side deeper in the root of the teeth and the coast side a little more center and deeper butthis pattern kinda sucks as i had a hard time...
Charlie wins a all expense pay vacation to were ever he is right now. :waf :bowdown:Put new temp senders in the thing idle evened out, temp gauge runs in them middle. regulator reduced the hot starting problem to a light stumble for first second. A4le got a service and poor boy flush...
second cam timing and chain.erratic intake vacuum points to a valve train issue. bad cam, poor cam timing, overhead (valve lash) set to tight, worn valves or poor sealing of valves.compression seem rather low. a leak down test might might help show bad valving.sounds like everything you...
