Putting the ol girl to work, 2 guys went in the woods, were reported missing, the next day a couple of jeeps and I went in to look for them, we found them, they were cold and wet , but ok. Their jeep had broke down and burnt, then they wondered the back country aimless, in the snow and rain...
Fixed the shifter retainer, gravity is all that held that shifter in over the last year, used a retainer off of a spare dodge shifter I had, changed both shifter knobs, installed the foam insulator around the shift tower, screwed shift boot to the floor, painted rear bumper black and did some...
Some more done, front driveshaft is installed, I also upgraded the electrical charging system, iv installed a 3G 130amp alternator from 1998 ford Windstar application and a commercial group 31 battery. Lights dont dim and can run full electrical loads without discharging . Way better than the...
Update, finished installing the axles, rear driveshaft is in, new windshield is in, shocks are on, park brake finished , rear fuel tank and sender installed, dropped off front driveshaft to have shortened, been driving it daily, works and drives great, all the steering is new too and all factory...
It moves and stops and steers now, still a few things to button up like park brake and front shocks and rear fuel tank(already purchased and painted) but its progress and needs a windshield replacement too.
Axles are 2002 f250 d60 front and sterling 10.5 rear. Changed yolks on the transfer case to accept companion flange on the front and 1410 u joint on the rear.
Wrecker gear is 440 holmes
Haven't posted or been here for a while, looks like its pretty slow here, same truck of the month been up . just obsverations. Since my tow truck burnt to the ground, here is what iv been doing. I straightened and pulled the frame into shape, and superduty axles installed.
Axles been sitting...
Got the donor truck home , have an air problem I thing , the high low range selector doesn't seem to have air to it, so it stays in the low side and it isn't charging, once I get the range selector working, I'll start disassembly. ,
Got the Cat running good, changed the fuel filters, primed and bled fuel system, got it fired up. Rung good. Haven't brought it home yet, have nowhere to park it , too much snow but this weekend supposed to be warm and rainy, hopefully that will knock the snow down
IV got the build mostly figured out, the transfer case will be a np 201 divorced. Hoping to set it up with same length driveshafts front and rear, that way I can carry one spare. Been digging in the spare parts piles and organizing stuff to make this a quick build. Too much snow to do any...
Well I wrecked the f150 this weekend, had been plowing the snow and it was wet heavy snow from the last snow fall we had. Roughly 40-50cm. I bent and compressed the entire front frame from the cab forward. So now I'm going to build an entirely new chassis , power train and drive line. Extra...
8000lb Ramsey. I'll be removing the deck from this truck. Not a heavy enough chassis. Was thinking of putting a wrecker body on this truck. Would be nice to have a 4x4 wrecker for doing remote recoveries, off road and jeeping is a big thing in these parts and always hearing of someone who is...
Haven't sold the old girl, removed winch bumper as an assy with light bar and winch, installed plow gear for winter, smashed the wife's car right before Christmas so the truck has been daily driver and snow pusher till a couple days ago when the 9" rear end decided to come out through the back...
Bumper was built as an idea , no pattern, it's one of.a kind, just built from what was needed to do the job, I can't take credit for this bumper on my truck, but have built several others for different trucks over the years, some very similar and some very mild and some wild, I build the...
Yep indeed, so after I moved the merc and set it down, I mounted a tire on it , then I chainslinged the bronco from the wheel lift and pulled it out of the garage and tarped it , then moved some things around so I could get the wrecker into the garage, length is good by 3" measured, but light...
Yep, she definitely got sitting syndrome, went to try the sling out, it wouldn't extend, so I beat and tapped and pulled for an hour and a half in the garage before I could get the arms to extend, so this morning I put the sling and arms back on the truck and hooked up to my mercury, the sling...
It will need some love, its got what I like to call sitting syndrome, it will need a brake line, rear line is blown, runs good but tune up is in order, has exhaust leak at catalytic converter tube, going to pull all the wheels and install new tires, the tires are cracked bad on it now, while the...
Going to service it, and put it to work, its kinda weird to drive it, you forget you are driving a wrecker, going over bumps and ridges it's smooth and quiet, not a clunk or bang, it is going to be part of my new business, will compliment my deck truck , but I like wreckers better than the roll...
Picked this up the other day, it has never worked a day in its life, has 81000km on it. It was used for the Montreal Grand Prix as far as I know, plaques on the dash , for towing grand prix cars I assume, because nothing on the truck has ever been worked. Fully loaded interior with carpet and...
I haven't done it to a ttb truck yet, looks almost bolt in if you use a late 70's f150 /bronco axle. I do have a Nissan xterra with a 78bronco front diff and a Ford 8.8 rear. The front suspension is all stock Ford 78 bronco. You will need to make a mount for the front track bar too.Three...
I don't know of any off the shelf bumpers, but maybe you have a friend who is a welder and you can build one. Mine is homemade and extra heavy duty, it also has a warn m12000 winch mounted to it.
I believe the front and rear axles were changed as a set. The front axle show no signs of having radius arm mounts. I picked it up this wayThe body is rough, real rough and been repaired over repairs, the entire floor is 1/4 checker plate from the firewall to the tailgate. I'll let the rest of...
Hey, I'm new to bronco's but not to Fords, just picked up this beast , saved it from becoming a toaster or some other appliance. It's a 79 bronco , has a 351m or 400 in it, np435 4speed and np205, Dana 60rear full floater and a d44 front 8lug and leaf springs. Hasn't been touched since 1998...
