The front measurement is 21 inches. The back I measured from the inner fender lip at the back, to where it curves up in the front: 22.5 inches. Hope this helps.

That is a sharp color. Congratulations on getting her started.

I think one difference is the timing chain gears are different. I was told to put the timing gears out of a 71 or before when I rebuilt mine.

Go for it! I have an old 75 one ton dually crew that I bought for a parts truck that might not end up as a parts truck. I know where there is a 78 just like it I can pick up for $100. I have to get started on the supercab first but that project has to wait until I get moved to the new house.

I have no idea but I would like to know the answer. My 79 has a 460 with an RV cam also. The intake and exhaust manifolds are both stock. Eventually it will get headers and a new intake.

My first truck was a 71 sports custom 3/4 ton with a 360. That thing was tough as nails.

Ouch! Hate to see that happen to one of these beauties. I agree the factory grille looks good in the 79's but I prefer the tube grille. I guess because it does not look like every other one on the road. Either way you have a couple of great looking rides anyone could be proud of. Love them...
