I have a 51 cab that need a lot of metal...found a 48 cab,with doors in much better condition. Will the 48 cab fit on the 51 frame.

The frame for my 51 is painted and ready to go. Question now is the leaf springs. I have the originals. I could clean up the old ones or go new. Best price I have seen is $225 for rears $125 for fronts. Is it critical to get new ones or is that money better spent some where else. If I keep them...

Is there any part numbers on the rear axle that would tell me the gear ratio? otherwise what is "easiest" way to determine?The truck I have was pieced together in 1980 from two 51's. The internet is wonderful but so far to much conflicting info. Some say the only gears available for that truck...
