    Scroungers Project 68

Looks like the carb issue is fixed. It seems to have worked itself out. I guess racking up a few miles and getting everything flowing and working right again is all it took.

Sounds like a good time to grab some gearhead guys and have a work session! A little far for me to drive but there has to be a few people close.

    Scroungers Project 68

Not much work on Cledus but a little tinkering now and then. I did manage to scrape off the WEBN Sticker.I replaced it with a smaller and more desirable decal. :DI also took the Comet to it. This is something I do a lot on these old cars/trucks. It cleans up the common dirt plus it...

Gotcha guys. Thanks for the input.

Sorry to hear that. It can be rough, I know. When the time is right you will be at it again.I have a 49 Chevy that I had for sale. A friend wanted it bad. Before he could get it he ended up in a car wreck and broke his neck. While they were working on him at the hospital he had a heart attack...

Anyone ever take their dash pad off, & leave it?

I figured there would be a ton of holes. Still waiting on my LMC book. I already have a wish list started.

Anyone ever take their dash pad off, & leave it?

My dash pad is shot on my 68. A guy at the auto parts store said he took his off when he redone his truck and left it off. He said he just painted the metal dash when he did the cab and left the pad off.I haven't looked under the pad yet. Just wondering if anyone else did this? If so are...

I grabbed some wipers. I also had to replace both headlights. I lost a dim early so I just run the brights. I lost both bright, one at a time within days and so I just had one dim light. I thought Bill said he replaced them but the backs where covered in 44 years of dust. I spent the extra cash...

I had these swan neck mirrors. Why not use 'em?

    Scroungers Project 68

When I have a few minutes to play I try to do something to the truck. These big mirrors had to go. They look like a big set of ears. The door panels were a pain. I guess they have never been off in the last 44 years. I thought I was going to bend them up trying to get loose. They had some...

I put it back together and the truck sounded great! Better than before. I run around in it for a little while and it started loading up again. Not sure what I'm going to do now. I don't want to spend any money on a rebuilding kit right now.

    Scroungers Project 68

I ripped the carb apart hoping I could just clean it up. It has a brass float and I thought maybe it got a pin hole in it and filled with gas. It was fine. I was playing with the float and seen the needle and seat didn't seem right. I pulled it apart and this green dried up goop was coming in...

Anyone do any custom body mods to their trucks?

I was looking at your picture with the writing on it. I'm almost in Cincy Ohio. I'm at the most northern part of Ky but have been down there where you live. Nice country down that way. Our TN Chapter President of the Scroungers CC lives in Watertown, TN. I think that's about 35 minutes from you...

First gremlin appeared. The carb junked out. I guess it's full of varnish from sitting so long. The float stuck and dumped gas all over. At least I made it home and wasn't stuck on the road. More to come!

It has it's bad spots but they don't scare me. I have been told I'm not too bad at metal work:) What I like is it's a virgin. It's never been repainted and no plastic filler. There will be any surprises with this one.

    Scroungers Project 68

No plans set in stone yet other than a fuel filter or two! I'm just going to baby it around for a few weeks and check out the king pins and some other stuff.I need to find some rims or some poverty caps for the truck. It's shoes are less than desirable.

After I got out of the store the truck seemed fine. I ran the back roads all the way home in case it stopped again. It seemed like it ran better than it did before. Plenty of power for a 6 banger. I stopped at the gas station and put in some gas. Then on home.A little while after I got home I...

The truck was running great! Steering was tight, Brakes stops on a dime. I kicked it up a notch and wanted to see what the old truck would do in the corners. Not a Vette by any means but did good for an old Ford. It felt tight! Then the sound of a chugging engine and no place to pull off! The...

    Scroungers Project 68

We made it to the truck. I wasn't sure if this thing would make it back to Newport, Ky or not. I put the gallon and half of gas in it and started off. To think this was the first time in many years it's seen a road under it's own power was a little scary. And away we go!Not knowing how...

He told me we could not get it out of the barn due to all the mud. I told him I'd take it but I wanted it today! He said are you going to get someone to tow it?Anyone that knows me knows how I feel about tow trucks. If it's what he says I'll drive it or leave it sitting on the side of the...

I ask if it run and stops? He says yea. How many miles have you driven it? None! None? How did it get here. It was towed it. Come to find out this truck is local to me and I knew the owner of the truck. Kirk Lombardo's old truck. Before Bill got it Kirk left it sitting in his driveway for...

    Scroungers Project 68

The Goat was next to the truck. Tell me that goat isn't smiling! The truck is hit in the front and buckled the fender. Easy fix. The rest is a few rust holes. Not bad at all. From front to back, in it and on top of it is junk. The pics were taken after most of it was removed.

The guy that works for him, Bill owns it. 55343 original miles on the truck! One thing leads to another and I find myself awake at 5:30 in morning not sleeping. At 7:00 I get in the shower and take a drive to Covington, Ky to pick Bill up so he can show me this truck. It took a while but we...

I wasn't looking for a project but couldn't pass this one up. I was at Advance Auto talking to the girl that handles our commercial account for the car club and the phone rings.
