Well i warmed the truck up, and found a pole to nose it up to while in gear i adjusted the idle. i got it down to 750 in drive and it goes back up to 900 in park. so i am happy with it till i get my new intake.
Okay then its showing correct, I'm using one of the 2 bbl to 4 bbl adapter plates and the motor idles at 1200 if i bring the idle down to 650 the truck stalls while in gear.
There are no vac leaks.
I haven't bought my new intake yet.
Okay with the factory timing chain, got the dots lined up. the pointer on the balancer is at 0 TDC started the truck and turned the Distributor to 12 BTDC shut the truck off hooked up the vac advance and the timing looks like its at 30 BTDC its just not making sence to me how the timing...
Got everything put back together and the truck runs, Now i have a whole new list of running problems i have to fix, but i will save them issues for another day.
I took the intake off to day and got the front of the motor tore down to also replace the timing chain, I think the motor may of been rebuilt once, really clean inside, I will get pic's up soon.Only thing that seems weird is if the motor was rebuilt once why would the timing chain be so loose...
Well I think i found that Serious Vacuum Leak. I just thought i would check the torque on the intake, and found that 3/4 of the bolts were only torqued to 10 lbs. I guess it took some time for it make a leak. So i went and got all new gaskets even for the carb. and i am going to re set the...
Cant spray carb cleaner, the truck wont stay running. choke has to be pulled out to full and my foot has to be on the gas peddle to keep it running.Fuel filter? whats that LOL. everything is new there is nothing to filter out LOL
I go to the special gas station. perfectly clean high grade...
It ran like garbage before all the new fuel parts. I also need to learn to test drive before i say it runs good. put the pump on it idled great. went to the store and had to tow it back home.I have Air, Fuel, and Spark. It just don't want to run now, if i can get it started i have to put...
Yep fuel pump, before i replaced all the parts in the fuel system, i had a rust issue. ( never would of thought of this ) the rust built up in the fuel pump and clogged it. that also explained the ruff running the last few days. new pump is on and she runs nice and smooth.
Had to tow the old girl home today, broke down at the gas station.I got no fuel in the fuel filter, the fuel pump is new, but in the last few days the truck has been hard to start, dieing when i come to a stop, and motor was shaking and missing at idle.Other then a fuel pump is there some...
I found a guy parting out a 78 bronco, so i snagged the steering column and the two factory green door panels. for 25.00I did a check on the fuel tank install, and found my front tank strap loosened up, after driving to get parts.
Well got the gas tank in, ( Advance Auto, made in Canada tank ) It 4 hours to put it in, worse fitting tank i have ever seen. i had to beat and bend the lip all over the tank the weld lip was 1 inch bigger then the old tank.
I am glad i painted the tank cause it is never coming back out, i am...
I never worry, if it breaks down i just tow it home, and i have never owned a Dent that cost me more then 500.00 So if it gets stolen or involved in a major crash its no big lose.
For a break hose to fail by swelling shut, its due to old age or contamination so yes any rubber or seals in the system will fail at the same time.
The trucks brake bias is always heavy to the front, so the issue will be more noticeable on the front then the rear.I had a van that busted a...
The brake hose issue will affect the front brakes more, but you still have one hose that goes to the rear axle.Brake fluid will go bad, even in the bottle just siting on the shelf.Something you may want to try is a full flush on the brake system.
I agree ^^ Also the problem could be with the brake line ( rubber hose ) has swollen shut it will allow the pressure to the brakes but wont allow the pressure to release hence the brakes stay locked
I was thinking Bell.I did some research, on a 4 link setup. There is no bolt on kit i have found, so i am going to have to fab one up.The really nice thing is the truck had no options ( base model ) so the cab is bare and i really don't have to strip things out.
Belltech? i thought they only made helmets and safety restraints.Im not concerned with how the truck rides, it rides bad enough. I have other trucks to drive if i need to go some where. The sport drag racing idea is this trucks last hope, its either this or send her to scrap.
I would still use the truck as a daily driver, its that the truck will no longer be useable as a truck. We have a 1/8 mile drag strip ( legal ) The truck would be more oriented to racing then work or a good looking cruiser.I would love to restore it, but i would never get even a 1/4 of...
After allot of thinking, and looking at the cost involved in buying all new body parts, i have decided to turn the 77 ford into a street/ race truck.I will be gutting allot of the truck, going to strip the bed down and just use the outer bed sides, ( no floor or inner bed walls ) also going...
Dont know what the shops in your area is like but NO shop in my area will even work on trucks that old. King Pins can go easy or very hard, so when getting your price expect the worse case price.
:horrormovie: you are braver then me. I know nothing on automatics i would of never even dropped the pan. I wish you the best on getting her back right
