  1. Why does it stall?

Turns out it was a mixture of two problems, was a leaking booster, and the timing hopped something like 4 teeth.Sadly, i no longer have the truck. She will be missed, but i couldn't afford to keep her going, figured it would be best to give it to someone who can keep her alive.
  2. Engine shutting off?

Also, says the steering is tighter than normal, i am quite sure it has no connection, but hey, you never know.
  3. Engine shutting off?

My friend's 04 F150 4X4 has recently been shutting off. It's got the 4.6L motor. It only shuts off when he is sitting at idle and turns the wheel, or is sitting in gear, and turns the wheel. It will go down the road no problem, but any time the motor is idling, or is in gear and sitting still...
  4. Why does it stall?

I was hoping we lived in a world where everything was easy....The hunt is on i suppose.Oh, to add to that, i noticed today after my truck sat at idle for a few minutes that the fuel filter was nearly empty, and there was relatively no gas flowing into it. Then once it was ran down the road...
  5. Why does it stall?

So i bought a 79 F150 with a 302.Since i bought it, i have been having issues with keeping it running. It was built up, i'm not sure what all was done, but i know for sure it has a racing intake, and has a .498 cam in it.From there, it's anyone's guess. As of right now, i have the Idle set...
  6. Rear "Axle Over" suspension?

If you could better explain what you mean by bolting on plates, that would be great, I'm not so good at understanding. What are the chances that the drive shaft will need shortened?
  7. Rear "Axle Over" suspension?

Correct me if i'm wrong, because i've never done anything like this before, but wouldn't that cause me to have issues with the back end bouncing or being soft? What type of drop would you expect from that?
  8. Rear "Axle Over" suspension?

So i was thinking about lowering my 79 F150 Supercab with an 8' bed to give it a different stance.I had heard about doing a axle over suspension change on the rear (putting the axle on top of the leaf springs) But i noticed that there wasn't really any clearance for the axle between the leafs...
  9. Gap in tailgate?

Thanks for all the info.I noticed the other day that the driver's side does not do it at all. However the passenger side does. It's only about .5-1" of a gap, Just enough that the tailgate won't latch if the side isnt pushed back up.Perhaps i should tear the bed liner out, and investigate...
  10. Gap in tailgate?

Wasn't sure if it was normal or not, so i figured i'd ask.My '79 has an 8 foot bed, And when I drop the tailgate, The sides of the bed lean outward about 2 inches on either side. Then when I go to close it, I have to push the side back up to get it shut.Normal?Or what would you recommend...
  11. Stock Ford Rims that match up?

I can't think of much that I would possibly need. I'm thinking about re-doing all the interior, seats and all. The truck is entirely original with the exception of the motor, and seems to be all there.Surely needs the carpet, and headliner. At the moment it's not even there, and with the cold...

I like the cab lights on your truck.I haven't decided if i want to install them on mine or not.I have a LMC truck magazine handy if i ever decide i do.Only thing I haven't found in it was carpeting, or any type of flooring for the Supercab's.Know where I can find replacement flooring...

Okay coolThanks for the info.Is it just the F150 rims, or will rims off of another Ford vehicle work?
  20. Stock Ford Rims that match up?

What all styles of stock Ford rims will bolt right up to a 1979 Ford F150 4x2?Looking to get something different on the truck, but dont exactly have the cash to pay for aftermarket.Though maybe one of the yards around my place would have a set of Ford rims.I should really look into all the...
