  1. Old truck is sputtering

69 F-250 390 auto with an Autolite 2bbl carb. I overhauled the motor last year and put on a factory reconditioned carburetor at the time. The carb never did adjust out quite right but in all fairness I didn't have the time to spend on it either. It was good enough to get by. Today I went back...
  2. New carb linkage idle problem

I overhauled the 390 in my 69 F-250 and installed a new (rebuilt) 2 bbl Autoline carburetor. The problem is that when it's running the linkage is sticky and won't return to the dashpot very easily to idle down. When the motor is not running it works fine. It's well lubricated. Any thoughts on this?
  3. engine noise in '69 F-250 390

I have maybe 40-50k on a rebuild. New crank and bearings, new cam and bearings, high pressure oil pump.It had been running great and the oil pressure was good. Oil level was good. After about a 4 mile drive to church it began a tapping that got louder as I pulled in the lot. It was the first...
  4. tranny shift column

The shift column for my 69 F250 automatic is broken at the top where the lever is attached. Does anyone know where I could find a new/used one or would it be best to get a floor mount shifter? On the bright side I had a friend hook me up with a 68 F250 for parts but it's in way too good of shape...
  5. caliper question

My 69 3/4 ton has a caliper that's started rattling around. In the past I'd shoot silicone caulk around the pins and and let it set up. This time I ordered a kit for it. The problem is that I don't know how to install the parts properly and can't find a diagram or something similar to give me a...
  6. tapping under load

My 69 F250 /390 recently developed a tapping noise under load. The noise is similar to a fan hitting something. It won't do it in park, only when pulling a hill or similar load then fades away as the load lessens. It seems to have begun after installing a new starter and the noise may even come...
