Thanks for sharing! I didn't realize the shock mount was just riveted to the frame. This will be a lot cheaper fix than I was thinking.Sent from my SM-A205U using Tapatalk
I just noticed this today... Is it dangerous to drive like this? Should I remove the shock on the other side as well, so it's even until I can get it fixed?Sent from my SM-A205U using Tapatalk
Thanks for the tips. Most of it went over my head though to be honest, since I've never worked on a rear end and don't really know how it goes together or what the parts are called. My nephew lost my shop manual, so I'll have to order another one and read up on it.Sent from my SM-A205U using...
So I was under the truck to work on the exhaust, and I noticed this. I'm guessing the seal where the drive shaft goes in is bad. It's wet on the other side too, so I guess it needs a new gasket there as well. How big of a job will I be getting into to fix this?Sent from my SM-A205U using Tapatalk
Just a quick question: Where is the blower motor relay on a '77 F-150 with air conditioning? 351m truck if that matters.Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
Well that would definitely be a lot easier than replacing the distributor. I'll have to look into that, thanks for the tips.Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
Hi guys,I haven't been around here for a while, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good HEI distributor for my '77 F-150 with a 400. I've been running a Mallory Unilite with a mechanical advance for the last few years and the truck runs great with it, but if I splash in a puddle...
Hi, I'm looking for one of those little metal covers that goes over the hole in the cab mount. Does anyone have an extra, or know where I can get one online?Sent from my LGLS665 using Tapatalk
Thanks for posting that diagram! I know I looked at it before, but for some reason I had the red wire on the wrong side of the resistor. I checked all the connections and they seem fine, I drove it in the rain today, and after switching that wire it's running great!
Yep, it's like figure 1. Looking at that now, I think I may actually have a wire out of place. Unfortunately I have to work until 11 tonight, so I won't be able to get to the truck until tomorrow. Thanks for all your help, I will definitely put it to use.
Thanks, I will get on that. Looks like I've got a lot of diagnostic work ahead of me. I should also mention that I have a Mallory unilite distributor, so my ignition system is far from stock.
Hi guys, I've been having a problem with my truck not wanting to start/run in the rain. Sometimes I can get it started with difficulty, but the last time I did that and tried to drive it, it shut off and let me sit. It works perfectly fine in dry weather so I am a little confused. I thought it...
I don't know what gears it has, how do I find out? Tires are stock size I think, I will check tomorrow. I have never done a compression test but it should be good as the motor has low mileage since it was rebuilt.
Hi, I was just looking for some suggestions on what I can do to make my truck faster, it's pretty fast but seems like it could be a lot faster. it is a 400 with the following mods:
Edelbrock performer carb (600 cfm)
Edelbrock performer intake
carb spacer
headers
duel exhaust
double roller timing...
It's not too hard to install a modern stereo but there is some cutting involved. What I did was cut the plastic and then cut the metal behind it just at the top, bend it down and rivet the sleeve that came with the new stereo onto that, it looked factory. You can connect it to the factory...
That's what I ended up doing last time, but it's still a real pain. I guess I just gotta calm down and push through it. Thanks for your input, the vasoline does help.
Well at least I now know that is an option, I was wondering how to get to the other end, thanks. It just seems like there has got to be an easier way though.
Hi, I am attempting to install another distributor and I am having a problem with the little hex shaped thing down in the motor that goes into the bottom of the distributor. It flops around and I cannot get it to stay centered.... I was wondering if anyone had a good solution for this, I had...
