Sometimes situations like this are hard to digest, but lick your wounds and move forward. Check out what these guys are talking about; they have the "been there already" while most mechanics only have the book smart knowledge.
I have a 1996 F-250 extended cab w/ 8' box. She's rust'n out pretty bad, but the frame and the drive train is in good shape. I've had the truck 9 years as my construction truck and hate the thought of selling or parting out so I decided to fix her up. 7.3 diesel w/ 210,000 miles and rebuilt...
I had this very problem on my 1996 F-250. I changed the whole column; I found this to be easier. Too much info to explain if you want more input, call me @ 570-396-6889. This is my cell #.
I thought maybe same thing, but the existing ones are not that old; three years maybe. Took it to mechanic today ---- plugged it in and coming up computer or bad wire harness. I may still try harness gaskets and injector wiring harness first because of expense and computer is not readily...
1996 F-250. Be idling fine then check engine light pops on and is just like loosing 4 cylinders instantly. It stays running, rough though, and then after a few minutes will clear out and run fine. It does this on and off at different times. Today after letting set for 7 hours, fired up like...
dont know if you fixed it yet but I had to replace my valve cover gasgets, which have the pass through connectors in them. Before replacement sounded like i was running on 6 instead of 8. Could also be injector harness inside cover, be carefull if you go in messing around because the connector...
just thought I'd let anybody know that runs into this same problem, I replaced the whole column; it was just as easy. A couple of issues : I have overdrive button on shifter; just change shifter. I have cruise buttons on steering wheel panel; Just change panel and may have to change the...
I used to have mine on a timer and set it for a 4 to 5 hr run each morning, depending on temp. I have also had it plugged in for over 14 hours and no troubles
Key turns easy, radio and blower fan wont turn off. tore some of it apart. do I need to pull steering wheel to replace that silly rod and how do I do this. Also what about air bag. this is a 1996 F250
when cold in morning -- no skipping. when engine warms up it acts like I loose a cylinder or 2. could this be an electrical harness problem to the injectors under the valve covers --- I know from changing pre heaters I have 1 tab broken off of the 2 that hold the electrical connection to...
no bolt. the bolt went thru the lever also -- must have broke off of bracket then fell out of lever. could not look for it cause it broke on my cousin when he was using the truck
The 4x4 lever goes into a bracket where it was held in by 1 bolt. the bracket broke away. Best I can explain === it's like a battery terminal connection. this whole bracket assembly I think turns to engage the 4x4
I have 1996 f250. Where shift lever goes in to bracket under rubber cover snapped off, not accually the lever itself. How much of a pain is that unit to change out???
