Port matching heads on a low rpm motor will not gain you a thing, most likely won't hurt you unless you get stupid and hog it out to far and cause the port velocity to slow down to far at low rpms and allow the fuel to drop out of suspension.
Port matching is better left to race engines only...
yes the rear of the intake blocks off the water passages in the heads, something has to. The heads are made with water passages on BOTH ends so they are not side specific. Otherwise you would have to be sure to have both a right and left side cylinder head. basically it's done for ease and...
Why would you recommend a gear drive ESPECIALLY in a truck and they do NOT last a million miles (would be lucky to last 25,000 in a typically street driven vehicle) gear drives really have no place for much of anything anymore, they aren't good for race engines and never were much good in a...
a 460 doesn't need a 850cfm carb unless it's a race only engine, heck a 750 is almost too much. The typical street motor with an aftermarket dual plain intake at 6000rpm only needs 680cfm for a 460cid engine. you are actually hurting yourself over carbing these engines that much. a 650cfm is...
yes 2166 is the edelbrock performer intake for 429/460.here is a picture of a Edelbrock 2166And as can be clearly seen there is a water passage at the front as evidenced by having a place for the thermostat housing. If the one you have doesn't have water passages it is NOT a 2166 and is...
Rough guess would be cause what you bought ISN"T for a 429/460 but for a 400 instead. 385 series engines do have water ports in the intake manifold 335 series engines don't (351c, 351m/400)
So if the manifold you bought doesn't have water ports or a place for a thermostat it's NOT for a 429/460...
Blue thunder has been around for a long time but mostly FE stuff.I don't know what heads you are running but both of those manifolds are for CJ/SCJ ports not standard 429/460 stuff. So unless your running DOOE-R heads or aftermarket stuff such as the current FRPP SCJ or Kaase P51 heads those...
Heck until the drag strip kicked me off for not having a certified chassis under 9 seconds in the quarter I suppose I could always put some slicks on it and run pavement.
Well I did manage to break both of my front axles I guess, but it did take me 2-1/2yrs, and I am only running 900hp through them, with wimpy little 16/35 cut boggers so yeah guess maybe rock would be required.:hammer:
Sorry until the summer I am pretty much the president I think, in the summer well on the weekends I will be spending almost everyone down in MO racing.
