Thanks youdidn't see anything about the W flowing better than the C head... I made mention of how choked up the 400 head is compared to the W head.. I said the W would flow more than the 400 head ( being sarcastic) .. not the C head. :headbang: :headbang:
Ya I know 2V c heads don't need adapters.. and yes I know all about he 4v heads, they are to completely different animals .... did you look at the pictures I posted? guess am I the only one here that has had a 400 head on the bench and seen the exhaust port in them.. yes it the same basic head...
I did... what gets me is the 400 head.. nobody seems to care they are choked to death... put a C head on a 400 and let it breathe those extra cubes... 4V would work even better than the 2V on a 400 just an extra cost of the adapters.. but you would have more intake choices.. Guess I have spent...
wonder how a 351C would run with a 4" stroke... just wondering if those 2V heads will lose volumetric flow...same thing with the 460 they have a awesome intake port and a choked up exhaust port just like the 400... Huh.. at least the ones I have built did.. but I still like the 400 those...
Thank you.... go copy and paste more info about the 400... So you got some flow numbers for the D5 400 head I would like to see them.?? and why can't you just admit the D5 head has a restricted exhaust port and is holding it back... What's the problem... Oh wait that's right no one ever talks...
here is where I bought the pistons if you rebuild it... the only place that make them... they are are Keith Black hyper... well the number on them is . I couldn't cross reference the number.. I thought I could buy them cheaper somewhere else..

The Aussie's are the way to go for sure, best of both worlds... just don't put any money or time into the D5's (they are different)sorry about the comment.... If you could find some 71 to 74 2V C heads cheap I would run those before I would spend a penny on the d5's .... again that's me...
yup the compression is a problem that's why I changed the pistonsalso the original poster will more than likely never do a thing to his 400... just saying..
hey I hear ya.. we all know what ford did to the 400.. cam, compression, etc. but they also choked the exhaust port.. you must not have looked closely to a D5 head dude.. take a look.. why change everything ford did except the exhaust port.." change out the Valves in a D5 head... Why??? get some...
Come on dude... he is not going to lose any low end by running 351C 2v heads... It's a 400... I have personally built 3 400's and one was with the stock D5 heads that were later swapped out for some 351 2v's, huge difference.. But whatever, I speak of stuff I have done myself not things other...
Yes... The more air you get in and out the more power you make.. Ya know like buying a set of headers... is that a waste of money?... I Guess all the work I have done to ford heads over the years was a waste of time and all the aftermarket heads with better exhaust flow is just a sales...
Guess you never did any port work on this heads... the D5 351M/400 exhaust port is completely different from the earlier 351C heads... they are not the same and can't be worked the same either, lots of water around the valve guide boss in the exhaust port in the D5.. ya can't even stick your...
