Earning his keep

Had to cut up a bundle of slabs today seeing as our supply was getting down to the scary part.

And judging by the background, the plow is doing a fine, and I do mean a FINE job of keeping the snow scared away. :guns:

Seems my snow fence is doing a better job scaring it away... You have some showing, I have none...lol. I wouldn't mind having a plow, but I use a big ol' snow blower, because if I leave anything, it will drift in even higher, so using the blower keeps it from piling up at the lane. Had enough snow a few years ago I had a ridge forming 40' away from the lane... You could see each pass I would make, as there was a ridge to match it. I ran a full size sheet of plywood into it one time... wedged in front of the blower wheel, behind the feeder reel.

That`s the shadow of the house on the north side. The most we`ve had though is an inch. We should have about a foot and half on the ground.

Does your snow blower leave any? All the ones I`ve seen are small ones that keep building up the base. Makes for a fun time in the spring.

Mine mounts on to the rear of the tractor, and has a decent scraper blade that keeps from getting any build up. I actually have to tune the set so I don't dig and get the rocks and such scraped up. The blower is 8' wide, and nearly 4' tall... We haven't even had an inch yet, and what we have gotten was gone in a few hours. Normally I have cleared the lane a few times by now, I don't even have the blower mounted right now because the tractor is being used for other farm duties. The renters are putting anhydrous in the ground... Never seen that done in January around here...

Yep it`s been a weird one. Doesn`t break my heart though. That snow blower sounds like it gets the job done.

Got some pics uploaded of it, it sure has saved a lot of time and trouble for me. 1st year here, just used a loader, and pushed snow all day every time it drifted and/or snowed. I also didn't have the snow fence up at that time either, then I remembered my uncle had this blower that he said never worked right... it works just fine for me...

Back when I was a wee squirt we had a 3400 Ford with a loader that we used. Then my grandpa bought a year old Western for a Wagoneer that we used on the property.

A friend of mine just bought a blower for one of his tractors. I haven`t had a chance to look at it though. He said he was having problems making it work. He took the slip clutch apart and all the springs where broke.

been dying to post this pic since I took it, yesterday, think this is an appropriate location:

That is awesome! Paint "Stabbin Cabin" on the side and you`ll really have something!:)

Nice! What is the chassis from?

from what I understood, the owners put the front axle unde it, sounds like it's been in the family for awhile, so I would assume it's the original frame/chassis. lot of 4wd vans up here.
