I need advice / help please. Feeling lied to by the mechanic and seller of truck

boysmomoflabs

completely ignorant~
If this truck gets to the point where I don't resent / hate it when looking at it....where is a good online place to buy bit's and bob's for it?

One of the Carr small steps is gone.
The soft part of the passenger dash has a crack in it.
Screws holding interior moldings seem to be missing.
What's good to use on the rubber seal around the door? (seems dry from sitting)
How do I clean the seat belts? They are stiff and look nasty.

Oh...what's a good alarm system for it?

Thanks guys!! Everyone has made me feel much better~

Seems moot now, but was the oil level ever checked?

Im glad they are stepping up and helping you out. They are going that far for you, i doubt they are in it to screw you over...

Oil level was checked, I'm finding all this after the fact, didn't seem to lose any but it was one of the fluids I authorized to be flushed out. Not sure if they would have noticed.

I too am so very glad *whew*....
Quite sure during the meeting my jaw dropped open when they told me what they were going to do.

Glad they are putting an engine in for you. That is very nice of them. So hopefully it will all work out for you and the shop. Sounds like they are going above and beyond what they really have to do.

I too was concerned about that. They stated that the engine has had compression tests and oil pressure tests. That they're paying $600 for it and it has a 90 day warranty to them, which will be passed along to me.
Owner said the first thing they'll do is put it up on the stand and take a good look at it??

To someone else who posted here, yes....I do believe they will be getting the rest of my business. I'm still surprised that they're "doing the right thing"

$600 dollars??? woowee... thats high.. but hey its the shop paying for it... oh well..

i'd check and see if they'll regasket the engine except head gaskets and intake just so you wont have any oil leaks when its dropped in and if they'd clean it up.. maybe pay em a couple hundred extra bucks if its there for ya to have them do it...

I was speaking of putting a reliable gauge on it that gives actual pressure readings. Wouldn't be a bad idea with the new one either. I have seen many of these trucks show bad by the gauge on the dash, but are actually fine. Good to hear they are standing behind it all, as you dropped pretty good coin on them, and they obviously want to keep you happy.

See...I'm learning from you guys =)

When I called back for clarification on the engine (above post) I did ask for the new gaskets etc. Did tell him I'd pay for it as, like your thinking, I don't want a leak later on.

Isn't there some way of knowing how many miles the replacement engine would have on it? I asked but he said he didn't know.
Is that safe? I could be going from an engine with 138K to one over 250K...right?

Transmission? with this truck sitting the last year, should I authorize the $199. to have that flushed out too??? It tend to "clunk" abit when going from D into R. Either that or I'm just used to my little Honda.

The way I looked at it when I went back in that morning. I payed for a mechanic, who works under the shop liability, to make a major error. Anyone, including the court, would recognize that when educated. As stated, this shop has a reputation here in town. One public horrible review and they could see a substantial drop in revenue. I am very glad they put the replacement out there before it got ugly. I was truly stunned.

and really mileage on these old engines really aint bad... 250k as long as it was well kept is nothing... with them willing to pay premium money for it used.. im sure its in good shape probably..

not a flush... but a fluid and filter change... these transmissions tend to not like a trans fluid "Flush"

Sometimes situations like this are hard to digest, but lick your wounds and move forward. Check out what these guys are talking about; they have the "been there already" while most mechanics only have the book smart knowledge.

A clunk from d-r could be several things
A bad U-joint
Slop in the rear axle
a bad transmission mount
Loose transmission crossmember
bad radius arm bushings
