I get around 17-18 on the highway at 60MPH. Like 15 in town... :p

1. Don't believe a word of it re: gas mileage. I had a '93 5.0 4X4... on purpose. That truck consistently got 13-15 in town, 18ish hwy. I know many folks that were running 351's of the same vintage, and there's about a 3-4 mpg spread.

2. A '90 351 put out a lot less HP than you guys are thinking. Try 200, but can't find the torque numbers. The 460 put out 230. That's from a Kelly Blue Book new car guide back then- don't ask me why I keep this stuff.

My truck got a consistent 17mpg hwy with the 5.8 + cam and headers, on mostly flat highway cruising at 70mph it would do close to 18mpg, and always returned a least 13mpg city. That's way better than the stock 5.0 motor ever did, it couldn't maintain 70mph into a headwind and downshifting up every little grade.

My 95 F150 supercab (351, 4x4, 3.55, 31"s) would get 14-16 (18 was best ever max) at 70 MPH on the interstate, but it usually hovered around 14 or 15. and I would get 12ish in town, but I accelerate hard, as i like to listen to my exhaust. :D

Its parked in the barn now, unused. :(

I should have mentioned, when I say "18" there's no such thing as "flat" on my side of the Pacific Nwst. What we call hills, you'd call a ski resort. :p

Haha, very true. Unlike Northern CA where the whole central valley is flat...

i get 10 if im lucky....
Well maybe you're actually getting a lot better than you think.. have you relcalibrated the speedo for those big meats?

Well I think you would be surprised what hills there are on the east coast, Ontario and Quebec are flat like a pool table along the major highway corridor but there are lots of big hills on the highways in NB and NS and down through PA and VA and the area. We're talking some hills that climb for a kilometer or two and are steep enough most tractor-trailers slow right down to about 10mph. Max elevation in the Smokey Mountains is over 6000ft, been there and got the Kodak moment.
