I guess I just must be weird but I don't like the sound of GPs..

Fair enough...if you don't like that, well I guess, gpacks just aren't for you then. I thought for sure though it would at least sway you a little bit.

That sounds really good Ben. I'd get pulled over all the time up here if I had loud exhaust.

Thanks Buck. Luckily, it only seems like the cops will pull you for speeding or if you're making a scene and blatantly doing something stupid...then they'll tack on additional charges. Did you ever decide what kinda exhaust setup you wanted to go with?

No I haven't. Still trying to figure out what I want. I'm still thinking about something that is a deep rumble and not too loud going down the road. I do like the glasspack sound though, just may be too loud for my neighbor hood. I'll probably end up getting some sort of Magnaflow muffler. Do you have any suggestions on which muffler I should go with? I'll have to check my other thread I started.

Buck,

I'm running dual Super Turbo's by DynoMax. Judging from your description of what you're looking for, I think you would like them. They have a really nice deep rumble. They are loud enough to let people know you're there, but not "wake the neighbors loud".

Ben--

Sounds great!

Well if you like glass packs but don't want them loud...just go with a 24"+ length gpack. If Dak would ever get videos up, he has dual 44" gpacks and I bet those would be pretty quiet. I don't think you can go wrong with Magnaflows...I believe UNRULEE went with magnaflows on his '79, and I think there are a couple sound clips from youtube in his thread. Maybe when the snow clears he'll throw them on there and post a sound clip or two. I like the way the Hooker Aerochambers sound, I also have to throw a plug in for Cherry Bomb mufflers, and I think Dynomax sounds pretty good. As for your thread...I think it was totally thread jacked.

Steve...thanks, I appreciate it.

Its' funny, but in California you really don't have much enforcement (at least in the areas I frequent, Los Angeles, and the mountains of the Inland Empire) on sound from vehicles.

That's the truth - I've driven some pretty darn loud cars and trucks around here for a long time and.......well, don't wanna jinx it.

Dak - That's a nice part of the 909 you live in! How far from Lake Gregory?

Actually, my deck has a great view of Lake Gregory. By the way the crow flies, about 1/3 mile. I'm in Crestline on about an acre of land backing up to the forest. I LOVE it here. I don't, however crank Burt's exhaust up as loud as I can here. Its' too quiet already!

I just like different sound, I really do like the cherry bomb Vortex's, that's what I might be going with.

I got some cherry bomb mufflers on my jeep and they sound pretty good for a v6 with duals.

You ever thought about using those Clifford headers? They're slogan is 'Turn 6 into 8'...I've always heard good things about them from Jeep and 300I6 guys.

No Ive never heard of em. Im not a fan of headers cause of the mess with the 76 when we got it. Heres some pics of the exhaust thats on it.

Heres a couple of the mufflers
Driver side

Passenger side

Heres the drivers side exhaust maniflod. It has to point towards the front because the steering box is in the way.

Theres more of the new stuff on the front end and drive train in there too if ya want look.

Sounds good. I wouldn't worry about the smoke. I wish my truck smoked that little. When I stomp on the gas I let out a cloud of blue.

Thanks man...I've never had a truck that blew smoke before...so I'm always a little selfconcious about it...I think it smokes a ton compared to what I'm used to. Although it is funny as hell being in Knoxville getting beside rich yuppies in their Benz's or BMW's and smokin them out...the tailpipes are usually right at window level...hahahaha.

I'll try to video mine. I can blow smoke over 2 lanes of highway if I try haha. I just laugh and add another quart of oil.

Sounds pretty good Ben!!!

I wish more people had car alarms around here so I could get a chuckle on my daily drives.

 Guess that I need to get off of my butt and get my Sandersons on so I can get my Magnaflows put on. I got a quote for $375 for 2.5" aluminized from the headers back, doesn't seem too bad.

I can hear the wife already, haha!!! Maybe the new sound of the truck will drown her out!!!
