Brakes on 1997 F250

Hello, I have been driving my F-250 on and off for a couple months since I acquired it. While on the highway I pressed on the brake pedal which went completely to the floor rather quickly and I felt a pulsing in the brake pedal which I assumed was the ABS kicking on. I luckily was able to come to a stop by using the transmission, but the brakes are not really working. I have lost a substantial amount of brake pressure and have tried "adjusting" them as described in the manufacturer's directions in the manual. I have not found any leaks nor is the reservoir low. I don't think it would be air in the lines since they were working fine for months. My first thought was a bad brake booster. Anyone have any ideas or methods of testing the vehicle to narrow down the issue? Thank you.
