Hi,
New member here, owner of a 99 Explorer XLT and some wrenching experience on it in the last 15 years of ownership (a must if you're gonna keep them longer than the warranty!). She maybe not much to look at, but has always been pretty reliable - minus the damned 5R55E transmission, which needed rebuilding several times! (a job I did not do myself though)
I had a chance to pick up the 5.0 V8 for the same price and with same mileage 15 years ago, but decided to go 4.0 SOHC to "save on gas". Same as with hybrids or electric cars they are peddling today to save us all from imminent global warming doom and gloom, those gas savings quickly go into negative figures once you have your first major part go bad, lol!
Anyway, this site looks pretty cool. See you around!
