IF I was going to do it it would be a FORD warranty just because I would not want the hassle of dealing with aftermarket people AND with Ford when getting work done. I have had the other ona car I owned and while everything got done it was ALWAYS a hassle when it came time for them to pony up the money.

I may take an extended warranty out on the wifes Excursion. It won't do me any good on my 04 with the mods that I have planned.

If i was going to purchase an extended warranty, it would ONLY be a factory sponsered plan (ie FMC extended warranty). Problem is you must purchase FMC extended warranties prior to surpassing 36,000 miles.

Personnaly i wouldn't purchase an aftermarket extended warranty as to many of the companies are fly by night and go under.

In your case i do not think the extended warranty would be a good investment. All of them expire by 100K miles, and at least for the FMC Gold plan cost close to $4K fro the diesel. The only thing the extended warranty will help on your truck is the drivetrain (trans, axles etc), excluding the engine, since your engine already has a 100K factory warranty on it.
