engine questions

Hears whats going on I just bought a 302 creat engine dirt cheap, but it for a late 80's truck. I know they changed the counter ballance between the years and will buy a new balancer. My question is will I allso need to change the flexplate? If so this gives me another issue because my transmission is a C4 and they stoped making the C4 befor the ballance change. Any ideas or suggestions apricated

The balancer and flexplate will need to be thew same wt. this will get you close.

Whats the ballance weight saposed to be for a 85-91 engine?

IIRC it's 50oz's BUT it may not matter if you change out the 'plate and balancer.

You can take your plate into a machine shop and have it balanced for your new engine combo. They will weld on weights in the correct places, and it will be purrfect.. Will set you back less than $60 or less to have that done.
