New issue with the Marquis. When I put it in drive, it blows the fuse that runs the OD switch on the shift level (and the entire guage cluster- wierd how Ford wires stuff). I'm assuming this has to do with the OD defeat switch. I did see wafts of smoke coming up from the steering column when I popped in a 30 amp fuse (instead of the 15 amp).

Car drives and shifts normally otherwise, but lack of guage cluster is kind of a nuisance. Any idea what's involved in the fix?

Oh- '01 Grand Marquis LS, 4.6, normal stuff otherwise. TIA.

Take the column covers off. Theres usually wires that get pinched at the tilt area. I've repaired a bunch of them.
