I have a question about my 96 aerostar, i drive it alot, i drove to store and when i came out i started it, and i couldnt get shifter out of park, now i can only put shifter into nuetral and then start van if i want to drive it, the shifter will not work if i start in park, i put on new brake switch today because advanced told me that was wrong with it, so does any one know what wrong. its a 3.0 v6 with shifter on column

Do your brake lights work?

I think the brake light fuse can cause the same problem as a bad switch.
