5.4 cranking time

The 5.4 in our Expedition seems like it cranks longer than it should before it fires up. It has been like this since we got it, nothing has changed.

Just wanted to check with other 5.4 people and see if something is up.

Does it change when you let the fuel pumps reach pressure before actually cranking it?

Mine stars much quicker since I changed the God Forsaken spark plugs that break off the head.

If you can put a fuel pressure gauge on it, turn key on to build pressure, then when you shut off key, it should hold pressure for a couple of minutes. If not, regulator or fuel pump allowing pressure bleed off.

About the spark plugs, what year range had that problem?

No idea what heads called for these plugs. I know my 2005 3 valve heads had the awful ones.

Any fuel gauge that can fit the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Should be able to parts store it.
